So, I was talking with one of my best friends by msn and she told me this:

'Two weeks ago, I had sex with my boyfriend. It was unprotected sex, as I had my period. It was my first time. My period stopped two days after that day. Now, two weeks later, I think my tummy is a bit harder than before. Do you think I'm pregned?'

I don't know what to answer. From my Science class, I'd say 'No, you can't because you can't get pregnant during your period.'

Subeta, I need help. She's like, my best friend, and she's crying by the phone. She doesn't want to tell it to her mother because she'll have to dump her boyfriend (possibly) and/or will be punished a lot. She doesn't want to talk with the counselor because she doesn't trust her.

What do you think? Can she be pregnant?

Any time you have sex you can get pregnant. There is no fertile and NOT fertile, especially in a teenager's cycle. There's just more and less. The only way to know is to take a home test. If she still doesn't feel comfortable after that, find a reason to go to the doctor and get a blood test. Ignoring it won't help if she is.

She's waiting to see if her period arrives. She hasn't ay symptoms (?) so she think she's not. The hard stromach can be explain by something except the pregnancy?

Well, it's possible to get pregnant while you're on your period but it's highly unlikely. Has she taken a pregnancy test? (or even multiple just to be sure)

2 weeks you wouldn't really see symptoms unless you get paranoid and start convincing yourself they do. For now she might want to take an early detection test, because even if she isn't her worrying about it could delay her period.

edit/ The stomach is most likely just bloating. It wouldn't appear as a pregnancy symptom in most women until the 2nd or 3rd month. Please tell her to get some condoms if she's going to keep doing this. And that pulling out is not a method of protection.

she needs to see a ladyparts doctor anyway so she should really tell her mom. and honestly, she deserves to be punished for being so dumb. unprotected sex because you're on your period? thinking you're pregnant because your stomach is hard? CLEARLY not ready for a sexual relationship and her mom SHOULD know about it.

The unprotected sex wasn't because of that, it was because they were excited. Stupid, I know. I yelled at her for an hou or two. Her mom will know if she's pregnant, because if she doesn't tell her, I'll do.

Aww, I am so sorry! D: Well, a hard stomach can mean that she's bloated...and since she was having her period, thats a possibility. Also, she could be so paranoid that she is pregnant, that she might be imagining things. I think that she should go to the store and buy a pregnancy test. If she's not pregnant, it would sure help for her to find out as soon as possible.

As for the whole "Sex during your period", that is a myth. You can get pregnant while your on your period.

There are pregnancy tests designed to detect if you are pregnant before you have actually missed your period.

She should also be concerned about STDs. Even if you couldn't get pregnant during your period, protection is still a must when having sex unless you enjoy things like crabs and herpes.

I don't know. They're way too in love. I find it gross, the boy don't. Yuck.

An early detection test, such as First Response - Early Result, detects much lower levels of hCG so they can detect up to 5 days before she's due to have her period. If she's that worried, it's worth the little extra money.

It is possible to become pregnant depending on the length of your cycle and regularity. The most important thing you can tell you friend is to try to relax, stress can compound the problem. It however is too early to take a home test as she hasn't yet missed her period. I would recommend her talking to the school nurse they will respect her privacy (unless your school has a disclosure clause) the best thing she can do at this point is to try to relax, wait a couple weeks take a home test and ultimately learn from this situation.

SweetSerenity; She's very regular. I'm sure. The only time she hasn't been regular was that month, when her period came 4 days earlier. That's why she's stressed out. I'm showing this to her right now, and I'll write exactly what she says.

Lol wow. Smart move on her part. (Sarcasm, of course.) She should've really learned more about sex before having it. She'll be very lucky if she isn't pregnant... did he pull out beforehand or not? If he didn't... then yeah, she's most likely pregnant. Pulling out isn't always effective, but if he did pull out, there's less of a chance of her being pregnant... he might've pulled out just in time.

Just tell her to keep track of her period schedule, and take a pregnancy test if her period doesn't come next time around. If she is pregnant... she has to tell her mother. It would be very unhealthy for her to keep it to herself, because she needs all of the help she can get, especially if she's young... which I'm assuming she is. This isn't a time to worry about whether her mom will flip out or not. If her mom doesn't help her, then someone will. Have her talk to a counselor at school... they'll definitely help out the best they can, or at least I think they would.

Good luck to her, though, and if she isn't pregnant, she's extremely lucky and hopefully she'll learn a lesson from this situation. She needs to be safe and use some sort of birth control every time she has sex... or maybe she shouldn't have sex at all until she learns the facts, because there's a chance of pregnancy with any form of birth control.
