My boyfriend and I went to McDonald's last night, and it was really dead so we decided to dine in. We walk in, and the cashier was leaning on his register, and had his head leaning on his hand. We walked up and he just stared at us. Shaun told him what he wanted, and the guy rings him out, not even bothering to ask me what I wanted. While waiting for the food, I went over to get my sweet tea. The thing was empty. I stood up at the counter for ten minutes waiting for someone to ask me what I wanted. The cashier just stood there and stared at me. I told him the sweet tea was out, and he just continued to stare. I told the manager that the tea was out, so she filled it up at the drive through one. Nobody filled up the container, so Shaun had to go up and ask to have his filled too. We were there for like half an hour, and nobody came to fill up the sweet tea, but they could walk past it and fill up everything else. It wasn't even busy! They had plenty of time to dump a bucket of tea into the dispenser.

That place pissed me off so bad last night.

  1. If you're working with the public, at least PRETEND to want to be there.
  2. When multiple people complain that something's out, please fill it up.

Ugh.

Anyone else pissed off with any restaurants/businesses lately?

Yes. But if you worked all day at a fast food place like that where they have so incredibly rude people that come in time after time, you wouldn't be the happiest camper ;(

BUT, I get what you're saying. That's incredibly disrespectful.

Fry's Electronics. They are gender biased. Every female I've talked to that goes in this store has nothing but problems getting help unless their husband/boyfriend/father is around. I went there to buy a bigger vid graphic card for my desktop. I could not get any help, at all. I would go up to an employee and they would ignore me or say they were busy. Busy doing what? Standing around?

I complained to my husband, who was surfing the video section. He went up and said, "Excuse me, I need a vid graphic card." The employee was glad to point them out to my husband. Took him right to the section. My husband goes, "Okay, go ahead and pick it out" and left. I pick it out, go to an employee to ask for them to take it out of the case and again, "I'm busy" or "I don't have the key, ask someone else." I mean, what the hell?! I just left and went to Best Buy. I refuse to shop at Fry's.

I also went to this four star restaurant in Hollywood. We had to sit ourselves and sat there for 25 minutes. Many servers just passed us by. As we were leaving, I noticed a large group of people coming in and I bounded up to the manager, right in front of the group, and said, "We waited for 25 minutes to be served. You have the worst service I have ever met. Your restaurant is not crowded, there is no reason for you to not have someone serve us. I guarantee that if you keep up your business like this, you won't have one for much longer." Then I left. :) Oh! The occasion was because it was my husband's birthday and he really wanted to try that place. Jerks.

... Do you expect people to be happy to see you late at night?

I mean, sure, they should pretend to care, but it's not like it's a five star resturaunt.:/

It was only like...9 pm. Haha.

If I did that after working my 11 1/2 hour shift at the dollar store, I'd get written up or fired.

He could've at least been polite about things, like employees dealing with the public are supposed to do.

There's a huge difference between going out of your way to appear happy and simply getting a customer their order instead of standing there....

Doesn't sound like they have very good employees...

I work at an Arby's and I would be shocked if I saw one of my coworkers act like that. We're supposed to be friendly, do whatever it takes (within reason of course! :P) to make the customers happy, and actually do our jobs.

I hope they get people that actually want to be there. Sometimes I have to get up kind of early and sometimes I don't have a good night's sleep, but it's not difficult at all to be polite and friendly to customers.

Yeah.

Today we had to freaking wait 2 hours at Olive Garden to get our food. c: I told my mom we shouldn't have gone but it obviously didn't matter because she said that she had told our friends she was already going to go. So, we wait basically an hour to get our food, and after that it takes them over thirty MORE minutes to get us our check. I mean, it was ridiculous, and then I hate the people we went with. Seriously, it is ALL about them.

:l So yes, I would say I am quite ticked.

I work at a little sno-ball stand and even we have a policy that we have to be upbeat, perky, etc, and cater to the customer. I would have been fired if I acted like that. It really irritates me when people act like dead-beats. I understand if you've just gotten over a rush or something, but the place was empty, they should have filled up the sweet tea after you said something.

good grief -_- I hate people like that. Is it so hard just to do their job? I mean, I can understand if they won't smile because they can't be that happy but hey, take the order properly at least. It's not the costumer's fault you couldn't get a better job :(

I tend to get forgotten at restaurants a lot, to a point where I just walk up to the closest waiter and ask if I'll ever get my food after 30 minutes :/ I mean, sometimes it takes longer to prepare but I'm so fed up with waiting and ending up forgotten. I think employee policies are different in sweden though, it's not like THE COSTUMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT but more of a "if I don't like you I'll kick you out" kind of mentality. Or, in my case, "you don't make a lot of noise so you won't get anything to eat."

When I worked at Taco Bell we had to be nice and courteous to the customers. It was part of the company policy.

The last time I had really bad service was at a local Mexican eatery. 20 minutes to get seated, I don't even know how long to get drinks, even though the place was deader than dead. All in all we were there for about three hours and not because we wanted to be. The majority of that time was spent waiting for the check while our waitress told her buddy about her most recent one night stand. Classy.

Anybody remember/ever seen the movie Pulp Fiction, when John Travolta says "Buddy Holly's not much of a waiter"? Every time we get a bad (male) server at a restaurant, my mom, our roomie and I make it a habit to call them Buddy Hollys.

There's a specific Holly at an Old Chicago by my school who's ALWAYS slow with drinks (even on the emptiest days), ALWAYS waits until last minute to get us our food, and ALWAYS has this look on his face like "WTF are YOU doing here?" Damn you, Buddy Holly!

Gosh, he sounds either high or wasted.

We went to T.G.I Friday's once, and didn't have anyone ask us what we'd like to drink or hand us menus or anything, even though we were right by the register. So we left.
