Sleeping in class or talking to your friends in class?

I'm curious to see what people think because I was in Algebra this morning, but I wasn't feeling good. So I put my head down and slept for the rest of the class.

Meanwhile this dumb bitch who sits in the next row over ran her mouth the WHOLE period about how she gets drunk and hooks up with random guys (Not even joking there. I honest to God heard her say that)

I thought that was a little disrespectful to the teacher because he's trying to teach the class, but apparently being a drunk whore is more important. Then I realized I wasn't any better since I was sleeping. But seriously, at least I wasn't disrupting class. Plus I wasn't feeling too great this morning :x Nor do I nap frequently in any of my classes.

So what are your opinions? Is it ruder to sleep in the class or yap endlessly during a lesson?

Edit;; I forgot to mention that she YAPS every single day. Every minute of every hour.

I think talking (loudly) is more disrespectful, as it can disturb other people, whereas sleeping only hurts your own chances. And also, sleep is required bodily function. Talking is not.

Since you are not a frequent napper, your sleep wasn't disrespectful. In fact, it probably helped you pay better attention in your other classes.

Talking loudly about being a drunken whore is MUCH more disrupting and disrespectful, not to mention she cannot even listen while she's running her mouth. At least you were being quiet and could listen to the teacher.

Either way you'll have to catch up on what you missed. Jabbering away is more distracting though and pisses people off most of the time.

There's really no excuse for talking loudly like that and disrupting the entire class. If you don't want to listen, that's your choice, but don't ruin it for those who do. To me, that's worse than falling asleep in class, especially if you're not feeling well and need to rest.

I couldn't even hear him, that stupid girl was talking so loud.

I think that each of them are pretty disrespectful. I mean, how would you feel if you were teaching your class about the exciting world of numbers, and all of a sudden someone you were teaching dozed? Hit to the self esteem much?

Likewise, if you are teaching and your class is completely ignoring you because the town whore is talking isn&;t much fun either. If I was a teacher, I&;d say something like "Yes yes, very exciting. Sally&;s a whore. C&;mon, let&;s divide!" or something silly like that.

I only sleep if I'm not feeling well. It's not like I use my classes for nappy time :P

I think talking is, since it is actually interrupting the teacher's teaching. Sleeping is unobtrusive. I think both a disrespectful, though, and if you were really that tired, you should have stayed home.

I think when you keep talking in class that's way more rude.

The only reason sleeping in class would be acceptable is if you really didn't feel good and meant to just lay down your head.

I wasn't tired, I just wasn't feeling well, and my mom only lets me stay home if I'm puking or gushing out blood :(

UGH. I hate it when people talk when the teacher is trying to get you to learn something. :|

One girl in my class is rude to EVERY. FRIGGIN'. TEACHER. She just goes on and on, and doesn't stop when the teacher tells her to. All she does is laugh at them, stop for a few seconds, then continues her conversation. Then when the teacher starts getting angry at her and sends her to the office, she just starts cussing them out and saying that she doesn't deserve it, flicking them off and crap. I swear, the whole room cheers when she leaves the room. Yesterday in English, she threw a fit because we had a pop vocabulary quiz. A VOCAB QUIZ. That was ALL. MATCHING. Then she threw another one when the TEACHER wouldn't TELL HER THE ANSWER to one.

AGH, I WANT TO STAB HER IN THE EYE.

Sleeping doesn't bother anyone...unless you snore. Talkers are much more annoying; you can be an underachiever all you want, just SHUT UP!

Sounds like that girl was one step away from pimping herself out in Algebra II!

My parents are the same way. I wouldn't want to anyways. It isn't worth it; I'll just catch up on my sleep when I get to the weekend.

YES. She announces it, she deserves it.

Though I would probably mention something to her parents about what she loudly declares in my classroom. Maybe then she'd shut up?

Sleeping doesn't interrupt other people, but if you're talking then that's probably bothering more than a few people, including the teacher and what's trying to be taught.

Well, it's hard to explain. It's like half-sleep, where my body is resting, but I can still pick up my surroundings and what's going on.

I probably would've been out cold if Drunk Slut wasn't talking so loud. :(

Well, talking is way more disrespectful in this case. She's interupting the teacher, and the people around her (probably) can't concentrate.

Sleeping is silent, although if the teacher catches you, he might think you're sleeping because you thought his lesson was boring. Witch is not very fun to hear if you're the teacher. But you weren't sleeping because of that, so it doesn't count.

Definitely sleeping. That's why I fight so hard to stay. TBH, most of my teachers just join in on the conversations.

Ahh, talking, definitely. People who sleep make me feel bad for the teacher, though.. but it wasn't your fault, so oh well..
