I've decided to wear my high heels tomorrow, but I'm definitely not used to them. Is there any way to possibly make them a /little/ more comfortable? I have ball of foot gel insoles but they add too much bulk to the inside of the shoe.

they have some new inserts specifically for heels that are thinner. you could try those... however i have to agree with phdp (again), nothing beats practice. the more you wear heels, the less pain you get. i'm just sorry you only have a day or so to wear them. =(

Wear them around the house. Practice makes perfect. c: You'll have to break them in and learn to balance((if needed XD)).

I have to get used to them asap for my new job. I've been wearing sneakers and I think my supervisor is getting pissed because of it.

I have them on now and I'm walking around in them, but they still kinda bug me haha.

I want to know how to not wobble in heels XD Like, my ankles wobble, the rest of me is stable. I feel like any girl that sees me walking is laughing on the inside or something haha

Anyway, just wear heels a lot. Once you have worn them for a while they don't really hurt anymore. At one point in my life heels were more comfortable than sneakers and my feet would hurt like hell any day I didn't wear heels. O_o

i've always thought that wobbly ankles meant the heel was too high -- at least, thats what i notice about myself. almost like i can't control the heel because it's too high. i dunno, i guess i'm not a professional like that. hehe.

If I were you, since you haven't really worn them before (to speak of) I would take a change of flats just in case you get really desperate. Otherwise you might be running in the street barefoot (just wait!), haha. But yeah just tough it out, once you've worn them several times then you'll become accustomed to them. Speaking from experience here, trust me. ;D Good luck~

I don't wear heels all the time but I've gotten quite good. I love my heels! They make me feel confident and my ass looks good! The key is feeling confident in them. It also helps if they aren't cheap. I've had heels ranging from $20 to $160. Guess which are the most comfortable. The $160 ones. This may just be a coincidence with me, but they're just great shoes all around. They're even higher than most of my heels. I don't wobble in them because they fit well and I think the T strap sandle style helps as well. You could also try getting a heel with a bit of platform on the footbed which will take some of the height off the heel.

Just remember to walk on tiptoes and you'll be fine :) If you try to walk with your whole foot and you're not used to heels (God I almost said "heals"...too much WoW.) it'll be easier to lose your balance. Walking with your toes and the ball of your foot will make it a little easier to balance.

[edit] Oh! And put a few bandaids in your purse just in case the heels start to rub blisters on your feet.

I ended up buying a pack of bandaids because the shoes rubbed my pinky toes raw. I'm so glad I decided to take my sneakers with, lol.

I find, myself, that if the heel is too narrow, it gets more wobbly. :( Which I think is generally more common when they are higher, so thereyago.

What about looking for some nice kitten heels? :) They'd only be like two inches high, so no pain. I found it helped to get a special ball-of-foot insole, since that's where I always get pain when I wear heels. Worked like a charm; I think you can buy them at most shoe stores for like $10. I bought mine at Aldo when I bought a pair of really high wedges. XD Mine aren't gel, but I'm sure it doesn't make much difference.

I have those ball of foot insoles. They add too much bulk and cause my toes to rub even more.

I may have to go shoe shopping again, lol.

Flats actually don't provide much arch support so if she stands up for a long time, she'll end up having back pain. But, yeah, practice.

@ Renaissance: Really? I had no idea. Then again, the last I'd heard, heels were terrible for your back...something about throwing off the proper alignment or something.

Though, I suppose it probably varies from person-to-person. I get more back pain if I wear heels for extended periods of time than I do if I wear flats. Then again, I also wear Chucks and flip flops more often than any other type of shoe, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Haha, I prefer being barefoot too. Alas, I live in NJ and walking around barefoot isn't exactly the best idea.

Anyway, I have no idea how true it is or anything, but the fiance says it's possible that people would be more comfortable in one or the other, depending on they shape and build of their feet. I guess that makes sense. Interesting, if nothing else.

(Also, thanks for the link).

Like I said, I don't have the gel ones, and the ones I do have are relatively flat, so they don't really add any bulk. Maybe you should try scouting for some thinner ones?

I got terrible foot pain when I wore ballet flats to work once. It felt like the arch of my foot was going to collapse in on itself. :(
