Okay, I don't have a lot of sP to spend on my Avatar yet, but how am I doing so far? Does it all seem to go together or is it just a hot mess?

and don't worry. you're doing just a-okay so far. =] most people would suggest that an avvie should have colour coordination, matching, and overall balance and flow. ^-^ but quirkiness is fine too. =DD

i'd recommend experimenting with items in the "All Clothing On Subeta" category in the wardrobe. that'll give you a good idea of what you'd like to buy and help plan out future outfits as well. =] other than that, do lots of quests and buy some of the common yet versatile shop items that you know you'll be using a lot throughout your avvie-career. some common ones i'd suggest would be black studded bracelets, black fingerless gloves, big-buckle belts, funky corsets, as well as anything that suits your style.

Okay going off, viBRAnCE, I changed the eye color from red to gold.

I also think she was right about adding a necklace, so I will follow Takajo's advice and look through "All Clothing on Subeta" to see what would best fit my Avatar.

It's good for a new user but you should go for a different look. That outfit does scream newbie (just telling the truth) Go for something that has an awkward theme and lots of layers but doesn't look too cluttered. You can make a good HA with just a little sP as long as you layer it well. In this HA you should make sure you have the BG layered behind everything and then the wings right above that. You should take out the thing on your arms, try to stick to 2 colors in the first place. Make sure all the shades are the same. Like you wouldn't want a light pink and a dark pink on the same avatar. (unless of course that's your color scheme)

safyia, the hair is not a wig, it's actually on the drop down box when you are setting up your avatar. I believe the style is called "Avid".

Princess_Peewee_Kiwi, yeah, I just figured out the layer element of it yesterday, so I'm still playing around with that.

Just added to my avatar, The Book of Love Background. I hope it doesn't come off cluttered.

It does clutter it a bit... go by a simple rule: If you're going to layer backgrounds then you need to have some that match. Like your theme with that BG is kinda dark colors, go with a dark colored BG. One that I like to layer over that BG is the Greenman Totem (it's a bit expencive but it'll give you the general idea) Use something like that, it's smaller than the BG you're using so you'll see parts of that BG and then the main parts of the totem.
