I've been on google for hours and can't find anything ;-;

I just got a new 20'' lcd monitor after my old 19'' crapped out. So yay but the screen resolution on this one is less than my previous.

The max setting I can get is 1280x768 while it can handle 1600x900. My video card can handle up to 1920x1440 but since there are no vertical options under 900 after the 768 I'm stuck and ... I hate this small screen so. very. much.

I tried powerscript/reforce or whatever they were called but I couldn't get into the custom resolution option.

I updated my driver but that didn't do anything.

Is there a way I can somehow get an option above v.768?

It's a Hannspree and the only drivers it offers are for Vista os' ..fuckers:[

Possibly fixed..? It's at 1280x1024 -without scrolling- which confuses the hell outta me since the box says 1600x900 max but I'm happy if it is :>

i googled it as well. seems like quite a common problem. most of the users mentioned installing a new driver as well, but since you seem to have done that, my only suggestion is to contact the hannspree customer service.

Thank you. I just did but he wasn't much help. He suggested buying a new video card but couldn't help much after that.

I'm know nothing really about this stuff but I don't see how my graphic card can display up to v1440 yet has no option for 900 @

-- I suppose if anyone can offer help in terms of a new graphic card, It'd be much appreciated as well.

nVidia are nice graphics cards, I have 2. 1 for the desktop and 1 in the lappie as well.

It could be simply that the driver isn't meant to go with that monitor, although how/why that is, i have no idea.

Are you sure you don't have onboard video that's taking precedence ?

It's a VIA/S3G UniChrome Pro IGP Upgraded to v6.14.10.380 I believe it's a 2007 release but I can't find anything more recent for it. I have no idea what an onboard video is though :x

Onboard means the video that it came with that's oh where the heck is it ... Mobo ?

hardware's not my forte at all ... I have what, an s3 as onboard, I bought (well, gf) the nVidia because it was better quality, disabled the s3 in bios somehow (ages ago) and use the nvidia and it's driver.

Big ass crt screen res 1600x1200 ... I loves it :)

O ps, I run linux, so heck if I know how you do any of that under windows... a nice nVidia might work then, the 5200's are ~$40 on newegg or so, that's what I have in this one.

I'm so jealous of your resolution >[ I don't remember what the 19'' was at but this is so brutal and google's only managed to make putty of my brain xD

Ohh yeah I remember drooling over those large monitors before I slinked away with this one :P

-- I don't necessarily want to use the max 1600x900 Anything larger than what it's at would please me greatly. I believe it's only a small jump from what the 19'' was at and that monitor worked great ><;
