buy/sell art to someone who you don't like the attitude of?

i think it's easier to answer if you're a seller, but if the person was a-mazing but not exactly a sweetie, would you still buy? ;o

i've never really met a mean person on subeta, just wanted to see the ex-IS's pov xDD

discuss?

Yes. 8D

I can't remember any times recently, but definitely in the past I've drawn for certain people because it's really rude to kick someone out of a slot because of a personal dislike. >_>;;

And I've also bought art from someone that I didn't like so much, but I'm such a sucker for good art. xD

Also, I LOVE your rah custom! ❤

i would never buy or sell to soemone i don't like. i value my art and think i'm doing a pretty good service to offer it for fake money. i don't want jerky people running around with my images, they are little gfts, even if you have to "pay" for them.

and NO way would i buy from a meanie. i know a few "good" artists on subeta that are just real jerks. even if i had the sp/cash, (or even remotely liked their work) i'd never want to support them. it would just make their ego even bigger....

I probably wouldn't buy from somebody I didn't like, even if their art was amazing. I don't really think I have a reason for it, it's mostly that I don't really want anything to do with them at all. If I did, I'd make it a first and last so I wouldn't have to deal with them again.

I actually WOULD buy/sell from someone whom I'm dislike in terms of attitude. Because I'm not buying their attitude/personality, I'm buying their talent/skill. I'm going to sort of relate this to Dr. Gregory House. He's an jackass but he's got skills. Plus, I think artists are meant to be angsy/moody (if that's what you mean). In my opinion it makes them interesting :P.

Unless their personality involves egoism where they grossly overprice what they sell or just plain annoyingness from underpaying for good art when they're buying from me, things would be fine.

Ohand. I think if I commissioned somebody that had a bad attitude, I'd just be really difficult to them and get them to redraw things and be like lol not good enough and be really petty just to annoy them. So it might be a good thing that I don't.

No and no. One, if I don't like you, hell if I'm gonna draw for you. I don't want someone I dislike using my art. x: And two, if I don't like you, hell if I'm gonna suck up and pay you to draw for me. Just no.

If I dislike you, chances are I don't want to have anything to do with you. Even if someone's e-amazing/good at drawing, there are always gonna be people that's on par/better than them. So it's not too much of a loss to move on and commission someone else.

uhh well, see, i've bought art from someone i didn't dislike to begin with... but after conversing with them, have grown to dislike quite a bit. in this situation it's kind of hard to say, 'i don't want your art anymore because you annoy the piss out of me,' but it's really grating, especially when you don't think that the price they're demanding from you isn't worth it. /:

otherwise, no, i will not buy art from someone i dislike. i probably wouldn't sell art to them, either.

i'm not an artist in the traditional sense, but i'll answer anyway!

selling is different from buying for me, especially if i have a shop open. unless the person is being a total dickshit, i'll suck it up and finish the commission for them.

on the receiving end of art, i won't commission someone who i think has a really bad attitude. there are plenty of awesome artists out there who are really easy to work with, so why waste my time with an idiot?

I'd buy. if the artist is good, well he/she's good. I'll just place my order, give them free reign, and all would be well. most artists are not nice when their artistic freedom is taken away from them.

as for selling art to a mean person - no, i wouldn't. I HATE dealing with pesky commissioners.

When I buy and sell art; I just buy and sell art. I don't really care if the artist is bitchy or rude to others. As long as he/she is polite when speaking with me, both of us should get along just fine.

My only exception when selling art is that I will not work with those who has such high standards. I'm not perfect, and neither is my art. I sell art because I want to improve and make others happy while they smash their keyboards.

If my art cannot satisfy the commissioner like it does to my other commissioners, I'd rather just skip all the bullshit and tell him/her to just go look for someone else who's art is up to his/her /standards/.

I would never buy something from someone I didn't personally like the attitude of, or at least of what I can see when they are dealing with other folks. In fact, I'm far more likely to be a repeated customer to artists that I not only like the artwork of, but the attitude and friendliness of- it's a good example of good customer service = return customers and good business.

On the other end of the spectrum, I don't know what I'd do... I've never run into anyone who was necessarily mean or rude towards me as an artist offering commissions, and I guess I've been lucky to have all pretty nice customers. (Although I haven't had very many since I am slow at doing commissions, which I warn about ahead-of-time, and I am not very often taking them XD)

I don't think I've been in a situation where I've ever rejected anyone because of their attitude, but if something came up where someone I loathed asked for a commission, I would have no problems rejecting it. Art is time, and I feel like I can't afford to waste time on people I dislike. :P

For me, attitude rubs off on art. A bad attitude will make me dislike the art. :P I'm not very objective at all when it comes to this.

If a buyer has a kinda poopy attitude towards art and prices in general I try my best to be cool calm collected and sweet. I haven't really had too many problems other then people telling me my art is too pricey for them. I mean I can work up to 24 hours or so on a piece spaced over a week and only get 25 usd for it and still people think its too expensive ;-;

But I can put up with a lot more when it comes to USD because my art and jewelry are my only forms of income with this aweful recession :( With SP I'm less inclined to take it on.

I also want to say a little something from a few experiences I've had with very demanding people: I do often get comments and mails from people wanting to buy my art for sp when i dont have a slot open for it and I feel just AWEFUL having to say no, but it all comes down to time and what i can do in that time. I wish i could take every single one on but already my right arm is suffering under the amount of work I put on myself. And I'm really upset to some of the attitudes I've had when I've had to turn down an SP request! D= I actually go through PHYSICAL PAIN to draw because of this stupid RSI and it just makes me want to cry when people get angry at me when I can't accept their SP commission ;-; whimpers

Buying:-

I've stopped myself from buying a couple of times because the artist may have had an aweful ego or talks down to people. I dont want to say too much on the issue of artist ego's- but I love love love sweet artists :3 Ones that i can talk to and share art stories and advice with in a very calm and cool environment ^^ huggles ksm and plippy XD You two know what im talking about ^^
