I a newish DVD+/-RW/RAM drive on my computer but every time I insert a DVD-RW disc into it, it won't even detect it. Anyone know how to fix this?

You might not have the driver installed. I'd call the technical support for the company your computer is from and ask them. Unless, your warranty is up in which case they might charge you even for that stupid info. Then I'd call Geek Squad, they might be able to help and won't charge you if they can help over the phone, at least probably not for something like this. :)

Hahaha that happened to me and friend before, too. Me on my brand new computer, and about a month later the driver stopped detecting DVDs. but it would still play CDs! Thank goodness I have two.

But uh, 1) Is your computer detecting the actual driver hardware? 2) If it's not, then it's not installed properly. 3) DON'T CALL GEEK SQUAD. 4) If the the first two are false, and your computer is detecting the hardware and it is installed, then unfortunately your driver is dead and you're going to have to replace it.

Yah I asked some computer science guys. For me though, when mine did that.

Edit because I think faster than I type.

They didn't charge me when I called in for computer help or tell me it was a virus. :/ lol Idk I like geek squad they've always been patient, nice, and speak clear English. I think they are great for small problems you could fix over the phone, (and having help installing a missing driver would be one of them). I know dell charges you just for over the phone tech support when your warranty is up and that's just ridiculous.

I'm not going to argue though on them costing a fortune. I bet they do. (so fucking stupid when places charge you to diagnose a hardware problem, or won't even give you a guess as to what the problem is when you ask over the phone)
