i made a pair of the Rainyday verdure earrings.

thinking about making others.. just bracelets necklaces and earrings though. maybe belts and hairclips as well, once i get going.

do you think that anyone would buy them? (CSC or cash. maybe sP)

I always thought it would be cool to make a complete avatar for yourself. The earrings are great :) There are some beautiful items, it would be nice to know the artist's or keith's view on making them.

They ARE nice, but I don't think you'd be allowed to sell them. You know, the whole copyright thing. =/

Besides the copyright thing, even if you were to sell them, it wouldn't be for much. It's just earring loops, wire and four beads. Not too difficult to make. If it were more detailed and impressive though, yes I'd buy them in a heartbeat!

Hm, interesting idea. I think the copyright thing wouldn't be a problem if the artist was credited for the design. And while you couldn't sell them for much, as people argued, I think people who are really into making HAs, as I know many of us, myself included are, they would buy them not just for the "Oh, what cute earrings!" factor, but the lulz of having Subeta earrings. As long as the production and mailing costs is less than what you're charging for the accessories + shipping, go for it.

The biggest problem I can think of, actually, is security issues of people sending money and addresses around and such. But you could sell them on Etsy.com and just advertise on Subeta. It uses Paypal, which we're all familiar with from buying CSC. Selling them for CSC or sP might be trickier, but hey, if you get a check for $5, you can buy $5 worth of CSC with no guilt, right? :P

[edit] PS Make the Brass Cog earrings! I don't think they look that good on avatars because they're awkwardly long and too small for that much detail, but the idea of them IRL (but a bit less dangly) would be cool...

and thats what im worried about. the copyright. im not saying that i came up with them. im creating a representative of subetas images. all credit for the idea and stuff will be them of course and then me as the maker of the representation... right?

and sure anyone can put beads on a wire. but... maybe they're not too good with that or dont know what to get. and all that. anyone can put material together and call it a shirt. but why dont they? (some do) yea. idk where im going with that lol

It took ages, there's no fabric there, I sewed all the feathers together by hand. Very time consuming and I poked myself with the needle countless times. xD

Anyone could make the earring's; they're simple. If you made the whole set, (using a pre-made stencil for the body stuff) it might be sellable...

Frankly, they're green beaded earrings. You can smack the Rainyday Verdure label on them, but those earrings have been made before by someone else before Subeta strolled along. They snag ideas from people all the time. If people can pay real money via paypal for digital art of their HA's and pets, I don't see what the difference is here. Yeah, you might get a copyright notice smacked on you if you try to sell them on a different site and call them Rainyday Verdure...but as long as you're doing it here on Subeta, I don't really see the harm.

That being said, they may be simple, but I bought a wonderful wishing star bracelet from and I KNOW they couldn't be overly difficult to make but I personally found it a little cool that I was able to buy something with my sP and receive a tangible item in the mail. I would do it again. I have no real issue giving my address to people. Subeta by and large is not a community full of psychos that I expect to hop on a plane and come kill me, especially not after I've just paid 10 mil sP for something it took them all of four and a half minutes to make.

I make earrings all the time, I do admit they are quite easy to make, though some more complex designs certainly take more time to do. All my designs are originals and I custom make them for family and friends too. I have a box full, and I take them to school with me sometimes and sell them. Usually about 5 bucks a pair, 8 if they want me to make them a custom pair. Its a nice way to make a few bucks, even though purchasing nice beads can cost a bit @.@ All the beads I have easily cost me over two hundred dollars, but there all good quality beads. I really like the shade of green in those beads, and would certainly buy a pair. ^^ Even if you cant call them 'Rainyday Verdure Earrings', I`m sure you can find someone in your family or in your circle of friends who would be interested in buying them. They are very lovely. ^^
