when I draw people, I can't get them to look in different directions, only to the top left or right :P
any one have and tips on how to make then look up, down, straight... etc? if so, that would be very helpful, thanks!
[edit] here's the pic I'm trying to draw, she's suppose to have her looking a little further out her hands, like at whatever she released into the sky
I've never really thought about it, but I think it mainly comes down to the placement of the iris and pupil? Like, if you look from side to side they're more in the corner of the eye than the middle. I did a quick sketch to show what I'm trying to say. ^^;

Hope that helps a bit. c:
Edit: The top right one is just meant to be looking ahead. >_> I just failed to show that with the arrow.
Yeah, just gotta make sure the iris is in the direction you're looking? xD I'm not sure what you mean.
I think it's way harder to get big chibi eyes looking in different directions than smaller people eyes. o:
[edit]also, you should maybe post some of your art so we can help more. :D
I made a quick redline for you.
To show that she's looking down, her irises should be lowered. And since it's hard to keep your eyes wide open when you're looking down, her eyelids should be lowered as well. In fact, you might want to narrow her eyes even more than I did.
(It might also help for you to have her face pointed slightly downward as well, since most people do not keep their heads straight while looking at something at chest level.)
for that it'd look better if you have her eyes partially closed sorta like this; [redline] sorry if it doesn't look right, my style doesn't go well with yours D| I hope it helps though C:
Yeah, I agree a little more with HitomiPhoenix's redline. c: The lids and irises should be lowered. Imagine the eyes as spheres, which they basically are.

[good god, creepy picture, sorry.]
The lids should cover the tops and bottoms of the eye, which gives it that sort of almond shape, so you have to curve the lines according for the contour of the sphere.
thank you so much! these are a big help! I think I'll go with something in between the two redlines.
thanks for the creepy eyes Plip XD I'll keep that in mind when I draw
[edit] oops XD I realized I worded my sentence wrong up in my first posts. I meant to say to have her looking a little further out her hands, like at whatever she released into the sky
I see C: heres another quick redline for you then; [link] its helpful for you if you draw the object she releases and have her eyes point in that general direction, tilting the head also helps C:
