There is someone in my life I want to forget. I think about them every day and can't get them off my mind. I've been friends with them all my life, and have been ''liking'' them for a while. But it has taken a toll on me.

Is it wrong that I tried to make them mad so they would ignore me and then forget me?

Or am I acting extremely stupid and I should apologize?

actually, the attempt of making them dislike you as an easy method of ridding them from your life is quite common -- cowardly, but common just the same.

Is there a less cowardly way?

the best way is to just be honest. they may not like what you have to say... but in the end, should they find anything negative to say about it, it will only haunt them.

pushing them away is a really stupid thing to do. you're going to end up beating yourself up for it because, i'm assuming, you want exactly the opposite to happen.

like shatzy said, just tell them you like them. if they don't return the feelings, then think in advance what you want to do. do you say that you want to stay friends, but that you need some temporary space to sort things out and get yourself together, or do you just cut them out completely?
