So it's about 2:30 AM right now and I just woke up about a half hour ago. I fell asleep on the coach downstairs and at exactly 2 AM I wake up. I hear this banging noise. I immediately freeze, wondering if it's anything from burglars to my brother. So I stay frozen for six minutes, hear it again but not as loud. It sounds like the kitchen door banging, which might be my brother. Then I decide to check the weather channel to see if it's the wind, which might be banging against my open window in my bedroom (which it tends to do but only at REALLY strong gusts).
Wind: calm.
Ok, I tell myself. Ok. I turn of the T.V. and I freeze again, listening for anything. I figure if I hear the noise again, I'll just take the gun (pellet gun, really) and go to my room. I wait and I don't hear it again.
So I go upstairs, turn on my laptop and I'm thinking I'm gonna watch a movie.
Then I hear like a yelping, kind of like short bursts of police sirens. I freeze again. What on earth was that? I keep hearing it, faintly, then it disappears.
So now I'm kinda scared. Ugh. Sorry for the long post. But, have any of you heard things that go bump in the night?

Maybe there's a cut stuck in a closet somewhere? That happens a lot around here. Lots of banging and yowling. :P
To me it sounds like an animal caught somewhere. Maybe it's a raccoon outside?
Ugh I hate raccoons. (Childhood trauma)
I dunno. It sounded maybe more like a fox... We have a lot of woods in my backyard- in fact, it's a forest. So it probably was some kinda animal. For the yelping. I don't know about the banging.
