Pretty sad :(
I have friends that there great great great great grandparents had tickets to go on it but they choose not too, and it was for the last sail that they had too.
Mhm :C She lived for a long time though, and she probably helped scientists and all sorts of people know more information about the Titanic. Its unbelievable that she was actually there, and went through it sinking and everything.
omg thats so sad!
i think there's like, less 4 remaining world war one survivors as well. maybe even less, cause that was a few years ago i think.
Oh my gosh really? I just Wikipedia'ed it and two of the guys are 110!
i know, its crazy. they had a huge front page story in the newspaper. thats how i knew about it.
that's so sad. it's crazy awesome she was there but it probably doesnt matter because she wouldnt remember any of it.
lmfao i'm tearing up just reading this. what an awesome old lady. it's so sad she had to auction her things. omg ;____;
there's a little more detail in this report by the BBC and it contains the following quote...
"She began selling some of her Titanic-related mementoes to raise funds, and in April a canvas bag from her rescue was sold at auction for £1,500. It was bought by a man from London who immediately returned it to her.
Actors Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, who appeared in the 1998 movie Titanic, also contributed towards her care costs, along with the film's director James Cameron, by donating to the Millvina Fund which was set up by her friends."
the man who sent the bag back to her earns a gold star from me...good on him...i only wish the titanic celebs had stepped in earlier to help her out...she'd been selling off her things for quite a while before they donated any money...
