Well i have hiccups right now,and they wont friggin go away!gets more waterAnd im bored,so its also kinda entertaining.XD So i basically made this to ask= Were/How do you get hiccups?
Ive been wondering this for years.:P
Ha, I only ever get 1 hiccup at a time, a few times a day lol. From a physical standpoint, hiccups are caused by uncontrolled spasms of the diaphragm. Each spasm causes quick intake of breath, which makes a hiccup. The phrenic nerve, which controls the diaphragm, is directly responsible for these spasms. From a physiological standpoint, the medical community has not reached a consensus on why hiccups occur. One thing doctors agree on is that hiccups do not seem to serve any useful purpose.
There are many factors that can cause a person to have the hiccups. Eating or drinking too quickly gives some people hiccups. Sometimes spicy food, very hot food, or very cold food causes hiccups.
Drinking alcohol can sometimes cause hiccups. Any quick intake of breath -- sneezing, laughing, or coughing -- can lead to hiccups. Sometimes, there isn't any easily identifiable reason.
I hates them :D I often get a hiccup from bread.
Last time I had them a bunch of people told me how to get rid of them. So for future reference I know, a teaspoon of sugar, a shot glass of vinegar and a shot glass of straight red cordial will cure them for me
for me my cure is pretty much, hold your breath, swallow, wait three seconds, swallow, wait three seconds, swallow again, and let it out.
Goddd I get hiccups that last so long and they're so loud that they actually hurt. I don't know what sets them off, but they sometimes last 30 mins - 1 hour. But once they start, they don't stop, and any little thing sets them off again, and I have another horrid round of hiccups.
Ahh good to know sahi.:) But its funny when i hiccup in class because after every hiccup the people around me giggle. So its like this hiccup,hahaha,hiccup,Hahaha,hiccup,hahaha.....
My biology teacher said that hiccups are caused by water getting on the little flap that closes when you eat so you dont get food in you lungs. She says that it gets irritated and your diaphram pulls down sharply to try and flick the irritants off.
Working on filled wardrobe achievement. Almost at 12k!
I'm not really sure...I just know I don't get them as often as before. To get rid of them I just hold me breath until they go away. The thing to get rid of them is to focus hard on something else.
It's a spasm in your diaphragm.

If you want a cure, you should get a glass of water and put a straw in it. Then drink out of the straw while holding your ears shut.
I get the hiccups every single day. In fact, I can't remember the last time I didn't have the hiccups. Not sure how/why it happens, but it does, and I just deal. =P
One dude had hiccups for 60 years. Not to scare you or anything. It'll go away. :P
I haven't had hiccups in over a year....
Take a mouth full of water, hold your breath, and swallow it. xD If it doesn't work, try it like 1-2 more times.
Or you can do what my friend does. She drinks a glass of ice cold water. But she puts a spoon in it and the spoon has to touch her cheek while she drinks it. idk why, but it does work. xD
I get hiccups if I eat or drink too quickly. And for some odd reason, I haven't had them very often recently. Maybe they don't like me anymore. D:
Something that works for me every time is to drink a small cup of water as fast as you possibly can (chug it!) right after a hiccup. It doesn't work if you're about to hiccup. But yeah, I get hiccups a lot from wheat products.
Press ALT+F4 it's fun!
Still not having fun? Try Apple+Q!
Every time I get hiccups, I eat a tablespoon of peanut butter. Works every time for me =3
I just make up my own stuff to try, and sometimes it works. I don't suggest drinking water upside down, I tried that once and it didn't end well... But just experiment. You'll find something that works! Maybe a combination of drinking water and holding your breath haha.
You get hiccups from a spasm in your diaphragm. (I hope I spelled that right, lol)
I used to get hiccups every day at 10:45 am and they lasted for about 7 minutes. That happened to me for a year. o_o
