Yeah, I have several scars around my body that annoy the bajeebers out of me, but I have no idea how to get rid of them. One I got over half a year ago, but it hasn't gone away virtually at all.:/

Do you guys know any ways to get rid of scars? You know, other than surgery or anything. Like, maybe creams, or vitamins? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

[edit] I just realized I also have this scar from over seven years ago that is still very pronounced. I'd like it to fade a little bit--not much--but I don't know what to do.

There are a lot of creams that are supposed to help, and I guess to a degree they do. My fiance has some scars he wants to get rid of, and Mederma (sp?) helped a little, but not much. That's probably because they're pretty bad (the wounds were pretty deep)...and probably because he's not consistent with applying the stuff.

However...the scars have become a LOT less pronounced since he started working in front of a forge all day (he's a blacksmith at a historic site). Maybe you should try that :D

I use Bio Oil for my scars, and it really helps. It's a little expensive but i noticed that my scars faded quite quickly, and to the point where they're barely noticeable. Downsides are obviously the kinda steep price, and i also don't know how well it'd work on very pronounced scars. Also i dunno if you'd have it where you live.

My sister has some cream with this thing called Palm Butter in it, it works really well too. I don't know the exact name of the product but you could probably just look in the cosmetics aisle or something at a chemists or supermarket and find that or a similar product. It says clearly that it fades scars and stretchmarks, and i expect there'll be quite a few similar things so if one doesn't work you could try others.

Thank you guys for the info! For now I'll try rubbing some Vitamin E on them, since I'm taking some tablets for my dry skin, and when I get the money I'll try some Mederma.:)

Im kinda wierd. I think of my scars as battle scars and i dont want them to go away.

i have a scar from 6 years ago when i got my hand wrapped around an electric fence and it pulled. Its not very pronounced but i can see it.

i also have a scar from when i was 6 months old and my dad forgot to take off my bracelet and it got to tight and pinched my skin really hard. That one will stay forever because it hasnt faded one bit.

I used Bio Oil, and it worked wonders. I had heaps of scars. I have like a massive one on my foot, but that will never go away, as it cut like 1.5cm deep when I sliced it.

Yes. Bio Oil me too.

It takes a while, but rub your scars with it at least twice a day and after a couple of weeks they'll fade.

I've heard cocoa butter is supposed to help, but I'm not sure.

I have a ton of scars. I think I counted somewhere over 30 on one arm alone, and at least 100 everywhere. they're hard to see in photos but when people ask about them irl it's really awkward. I lie and say I tried to tame a wild cat, lol.

:o So I take it Bio Oil is quite good then? Because my mum refused because she thought it was quite expensive and she didn't know if it was worth it. But reading this, I guess it's worth another look. In my great aunt's house, there are some magazines lying around, and one advertised this scar healer. I think it's called 'Scar Repairex'? My mum said it looks quite good.

I've got this really weird scar thing on my ankle from when I was roller blading. The boots didn't fit and it rubbed a chunk of skin of my ankle.

The stupid thing didn't even bleed, but it hasn't faded at all since I got it.

Normally, you can't get rid of scaring because the scar is lower quality skin than the surrounding skin. Therefore the skin will be a different color and or texture. The scar will only shrink in time. If you get another scar next to it, it will be a different color and or texture than the scar you got before. So, in short, you can't make the scars just go away.

Bio-Oil does work for some scars but not for all of them, it really depends on how deep the scarring is on your skin and on how stretched the skin is (if at all). It will make all of them less noticeable though so it's definitely worth a go.
