On June 7 from about midnight to 4 AM I had some -very- severe diarrhea and nearly vomited a couple of times.

What should I be eating right now that would help replace lost fluids/etc? I haven't felt up to eating much at all, though I did eat a hamburger last night...that and a single square of chocolate is all that I have eaten in about the past 24 hours. Have drunk plenty of water though, and stuck to drinking a Diet Mountain Dew (that has no sugar, I heard sugar makes it worse).

Ideas?

I wouldn't drink the Diet Mountain Dew, it creates even more gas from the carbonation. It's not good to drink soda when you have stomach problems. I would try drinking milk instead if your diarrhea has subsided, it has always been recommended to me by doctors when I had these symptoms. Do not drink milk if you are still having diarrhea, it will make it worse.

The sugar thing is a myth, take a look at everything you eat and you'll see nearly everything packaged contains sugar. Hard to eat anything without it. It's not going to hurt you. It's just excessive amounts that aren't recommended.

I recommend eating rice, pasta, and bananas. Keep drinking water, your body needs the water. I would stay away from juices.

EDIT: Lo and behold, the groceries contain milk. :3

Will continue with water.

:s Maybe you should call your doctor?

Maybe drink gatorade instead of just water? Since gatorade has electrolytes (salt), it might keep your PH balance better than water? :s I'm not an expert, sorry :s

No insurance to go to doctor. Hence why I'm here. xD

I do not recommend gatorade, at all. It has A TON of sugar. It's not a good thing to drink, especially when you're sick. Water cleanses your system and flushes out the toxins in the body. When you're puking and having diarrhea, you're losing a lot of hydration, which you need to replenish. There is no substitute for water in the body.

But AeriaLure is right about the salt intake. You can easily put a little bit of salt in your water while drinking it. You don't need a ton of it, but a little helps.

I'm eating chicken soup right now, will that help?

It depends. What type? What symptoms are you still experiencing?

You really should be having substances with more fiber rather than clear liquids to help with the bowel problems, but I don't know if chicken soup really helps anything.

I'm not having any right now other than an achy and uneasy stomach, though this morning I did still have some diarrhea.

Well, if you're still having some diarrhea, you really should be on the BRAT diet (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast). It sounds like you might have a stomach virus- but seeing as I do not have a medical degree, I cannot properly diagnose you, I can only take a guess. You need bland foods more than anything.

I don't think the soup could hurt. You can always call a doctors office and see what they would recommend for food. You don't need to go in to ask, even though they will advise you to go in.

EDIT: I also thought maybe your diarrhea had subsided indefinitely after the early hours of the morning, but since it has not, no milk products for a day or two.

I talked to my aunt who is a doctor, she even recommended peanut butter to help.

We have PLENTY of peanut butter. Will be easting that too!

Thanks guys!

On another angle, it seems every time I eat two or three slices of pizza, a day or two later my stomach acts up. Could I have some intolerance?

I had pizza not long before the stomach acted up, about two days before.

That one you would almost have to ask a doctor about. It could be a food allergy, could be something wrong with the pizza itself (you never know how sanitary eating out places are), could be your stomach disagrees with the grease content.... It could be anything really.

If you have consistent problems, stay away from pizza.

I hope you feel better soon. :)

Pity that my favorite food makes my stomach so upset, but....guess I have to stay away from it, then! :)

It ALWAYS happens, no matter what sort of pizza...but like I said, oh well.

EDIT: Thank you. :)

EDIT 2: Moderate nausea continues...
