Okay, I need to purify and bless feathers for my air representative. Is it okay if I use any feather I find, as long as it's not from a squished bird or one that my friend's dog got a hold of? Or should i just go buy incense or a feather?

You can use any feather you find on the ground as it is "freely given". As long as you purify them there's nothing that could go wrong. A "squished" bird as you call it would be actually okay too as long as you're not the one who killed it, death is a natural part of the great cycle so it wouldn't be evil.

p.s. I'm not a Wiccan but most of my friends are so I know how they work :)

Well, i read that if violence was included in the death of the bird, i can't really use the feather well, because there would be negative energy that would be present in my circle if i did. >.<

But if the feather was just lying there and i picked it up, is that okay? and can i use Peacock feathers, or are they too big? lol i love peacock feathers, and I include them in everything i can.

Hmmm well I guess it depends on what you see as violent. My friends told me that if it was a natural death it's okay and being eaten by another animal is natural I guess...have to ask about that Squished...well yeah I can see that would be a bit too unnatural. I guess it depends mostly on how you feel about it :)

Peacock feathers would be okay as I know somebody who uses them. The fact that you really like them is an added bonus; always use things in ritual that you like/love. Good luck with it :)
