So I'm 17 and my mom has allowed me to get my belly button peirced, and alot of people are telling me different things.

My boyfriends mom said that it hurt her so bad that she nearly passed out.

My good friend tiffany said it didn't hurt. She said it's much like peircing your ears, that's what it felt like.

I'm sorta scared, and I guess looking for reassurance.

I've had things peirced before, IE; nose, ear(double holes, and Cartlidge) And I could tolerate those, although my nose hurt pretty bad.

Any advice to bring down the pain level?

It's not even that bad. Well not for me.

It just feels like... well... a needle going through you.

But it didn't make me cry or anything, so you should be fine! Good luck, you'll love it! :)

I would think it would depend on your own interpretation of pain- are you very tolerant of pain? Should think it'd be, like, the next level up from a shot or something. But in your belly button- so, sensitive place, add a needle...I would assume it hurts much the same as a shot does, and you probably experience soreness.

...But I am only rambling. I am, by no means, a reliable source other than maybe looking at your own pain tolerance level. I like the first response you got- it is temporary, and it will go away.

honestly, it isn't thaaaat bad. the needle was pretty painless, the clamps hurt more. it's the aftermath that hurts a lot more. You're really sore the next few days, so make sure you have baggy clothes. Make SURE you clean it lots, since it's very easy to get infected. You don't want an infection, those hurt like a bitch.

Honestly, if you're scared of the pain, don't look. I'm scared to death of needles, and I found it effortless. You'll be fine. :)

I got your back Jack, bitches be crazy.

It defiantly depends on the person who's getting it and the piercing. I advice checking out bmezine.com it has tons of stories and photos. Good luck. ^_^

There's something called...Emila?...cream I think. Rub it on the area about 30-60 minutes before the peircing and it numbs it.

thank you so much to everyone!

Eagledog, Would orajel work the same? Someone just suggested that.

EDIT:Peicing was done, and yeah. I was scared for no reason at all. I didn't use anything for it, just let him pierce it, now I have a bellybutton ring. (:
