are you purchasing the same brand mouse for each experience?

Nupe. Actually this is the third mouse going. First Logitech, still half works but... yeah its a sad scene. This last one, Logitech, totally croaked. This new one is Microsoft! I didn't want a Microsoft mouse but I love it like chocolate! D: Until the struggle began.

did you run the computer's diagnostic to see if the port is running correctly?

first of all, are you sure your drivers are correct?

I bought this mouse a week ago and downloaded everything on it if that is what you mean.

I went into the hardware and checked, and everything to do with my USB Ports is working properly, which is amazing to me since one port I have is completely and totally dead. I tried to update the software for it, but there is nothing better.

My mouse device is supposed to work properly too, according to the properties. :x I found something here... http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080618063856AAqhNUi

but I'm scared to try that, and besides its for desktop the question.

i am reading what you are saying but something just doesn't add up.

if everything is to par (port, drivers, etc) the only issue i could imagine would be a mechanical (device) error with the mouse itself. this may be true, but to have two mice in a row fail to mechanical issues is really odd.

have you tried using a plug-in mouse? does that work?

Well, I have no plug in mice, which is my problem. I only have wireless. :x

The thing that really bugs me is that it says the ports are fine but I know for a fact the one port on the bottom at the back of my PC is dead. Completely, nothing works in it!

to be honest, there are a number of things can could be the issue. it could be that your pc is not able to provide adequate power to the particular port and/or that the device requires more than your pc can provide. and this is just concerning the 'dead' port. there are online diagnostic programs that can determine a port's availability -- at least you could consider it a second opinion?

i strongly feel that there is a problem with the computer and not the mice. i think you should try a plug-in mouse to help eliminate some options. i am really sorry for dragging you around and around... it's really boggling my mind.

Believe me its boggling my mind as well. Nothing is quite adding up to be proper. Right now I am using my wireless mouse in the side half dead port. :x It works unless I shift the wrong way.
