And I have been for a very long time. I just need to rant again.

If any of you guys live in the Los Angeles area, you have probably heard of Jeremiah Lasater in October of '08. He brought a gun to school and shot himself in the head with a gun with one bullet in the school bathroom. Why? because he had a shitty home life and was bullied at school 24/7. And I mean bad. In fact, they day that he killed himself he got chili and other food thrown at him and pantsed in front of everyone. It was really bad. He was also very tall and big, but gentle - except when provoked, he got very angry. I wasn't a friend of his. But I knew him. I talked to him. I was nice to him. I defended him when people called him 'Elephant Man.' So, guess who this tragedy changed? ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOBODY. In fact, the kid who teased him the most laughed when he heard the news. he still has a shitload of friends. And everyone is still an asshole and bully to everyone, with Myspace albums dedicated to 'dorks' just to make fun of them and such. Absolutely fucking nobody changed. At the vigil, what really pissed me off, is that the people who made fun of him were there! (That was pretty much everyone) And they were acting SAD! It's been a while, but I'm still shaking with rage at this. Nobody even fucking cared.

I find irony in the kids like that who say they're for "peace and love" yet they push around everyone and act like bitches/dicks..

If you aren't going to practice what you preach, why are you even trying? It's lame that it's being made into a fad. :/

[edit] I was going to add this; We had a senior die in a car wreck my freshman year. My friends and I had anticipated that this would bring people closer together because he was such a friendly guy and had never expressed any hate for anyone. Instead, people became more bitter towards each other and the ridicule and torment towards the kids at the bottom of the food chain worsened and since then, I haven't seen it getting any better.

Wow, I'm so sorry. I haven't heard of this before, but wow. Just goes to show you how kids can be really hurtful and stupid.

I know :( it's absolutely amazing what twits there are in this world (and how many of them are in HS too).

We had an unusually high death count in my high school, due to it being a very stressful place and all. So around November in my 2nd year there were two deaths. One was a popular kid who had graduated and died in an avalanche, and one was a bullied guy who jumped from a bridge.

They held ceremony for the kid who killed himself since he was a student. Everyone was decently quiet and respectful to his (few) friends in church, but in school... I mean, everyone was just laughing their heads off, or like, "why hold ceremony for him", that kinda thing. In the cafeteria. All around his friends. There were also those who sort of put on airs as if they were mourning, you know? It's a small school, everyone knew who hated who, but they still sort of pretended like they were Great Souls in Pain. I mean, come on. It's an insult to his friends and family :(

And they were all upset about the other kid who died a bit later (but since he had loads of friends I can understand this) and got super pissed off if anyone dared to smile on the day it was announced :/ like, ok, I never even met him...

Aren't the school doing anything about bullying? You'd think they'd be extra vigilant after a kid committed suicide, for god's sake.

Being bullied by other people is probably the number one reason why so many teens commit suicide.

I'm really at a loss for words here. As PHYRE said, I'm not an advocate for school shootings either, but I can understand some, such as Columbine. And people wonder why there are so many shootings. What a shame. I'm sorry that you have to go through this.

Psh, I could care less about school shooting if they're from kids who are killing the assholes who tease people.

I feel angry and I don't even know the people involved.

I don't think charges could be pressed seeing as it was suicide, but they should. The worse thing is that nothing has changed and nothing probably ever will if we don't start doing something about it. It's so easy to pretend you're upset or that you cared, but most people never seem to.

You can call me an idealist and laugh at me, but I think we need to start treating people with a lot more courtesy and respect, and the way that the hierarchy of schools tend to work out - with the popular people often being self-obsessed, self-centered bullies and bitches - means that most people think it's 'soft' or 'wrong' to treat people like, well, an ordinary human being. If the kids 'in power' weren't bullies and were genuinely kind to people outside of their social circle rather than putting them down (to what, make themselves feel even more important or special?), maybe we'd actually get somewhere.

How many more teenagers have to kill themselves before somebody realises what's wrong? He could have gone on to be anything and now he's dead because of some jerks who don't understand that people can feel shitty enough about themselves without somebody else putting them down. They wouldn't like it, so why do they have to inflict pain on others?

Protection is one of the number one things in a school. Besides education. It shows how un-caring teachers are now a days. They don't grasp the concept on what teens see and go through.

Time's have changed, teachers. Thats why people around the nation have started organizations to stop bullies and there rade. Most of them get into gangs, become drug addicts, ect.

I'm happy I replied to this topic. My dog, whom I love dearly, is very sick. This gets my mind off of him, so that I don't start crying.

The biggest thing that happened was two kids were expelled. I think they, and a bunch of other kids, should go to jail though. The school would be empty if everyone who made fun of him went to jail. And I agree 100%. I wish something could be done, but there's nothing we can do. They just need to figure it out on their own. Which they never will. =/

Some people think it's stupid, and that they should figure life out on their own, but I want to start an after school club, where we help those who are bullies, and bullies themselves. I am severly against bullies, and have stood up for those who are picked on. I am to picked on myself, because I and a few of my friends are Nerds. But that doesn't mean you go waste your life on us.

That's what I hated most about it. The news. They didn't leave us alone for months. They were outside everyday waiting for the gym classes to come outside so they could rape our ears with questions about the kid. It was getting to the point where kids were punching cameras because they wouldn't stop. We didn't want to think about him anymore, and they didn't seem to get it.

People don't realize what teens actually go through.

Wake up, and see the real life, you dumbasses. Don't just past by it as an ordinary thing. Stop for a moment, and actually take it all in. Help out, start a club, do something, instead of just sitting there, laughing your asses off.
