I was doing overstock with GM (general merchandise), and Matt asked me to get these blue wicker baskets down from the top shelves because the stock boys had moved them up too high. It's no big deal. I grab the step ladder and reach up to take one off. They should be light because they're empty baskets.

It's not fucking empty.

The basket falls back and I go after it, falling right on my back among shards of SHATTERED COFFEE MUGS that some moron stock boy shoved in the basket and stuffed on the top sheld.

I had to have my right shoulder bandaged, but my whole back is covered in scratches and cuts. I was so fucking furious that I just about went off on my supervisor when she asked me what happened. I have to sleep on my stomach tonight because the pressure on my back hurts like a bitch.

I hope whichever ASSHOLE did that gets hit by a bus. Twice. Just to be safe.

I have to deal with the workplace accident forms now, so i'm awake doing that. I don't give a shit about the money. I just want the douchebag fired.

holy cow that sounds horrid! what kind of idiot puts crap in a basket miles above on a shelf??? i hope you feel better and nothing serious results from the accident. jesus.

if it helps, the other day i was working at walmart (i'm a merchandiser in my part time) and i believe that i totally threw a full box of crap in the cardboard compactor by accident. i didn't realize it until it was too late.... and while i feel guilty, i'm not going to say ANYTHING about it. lol

Ouch, that sucks pretty badly. Stock boys in general seem to be lazy idiots for the most part, at least in the store I used to work at.

I used to work at a grocery store where I started as a bagger. When I was bringing in some carts I somehow managed to put a bunch of stress on my left shoulder, and I screwed it up nicely. I'm not sure how you stretch/tear muscles pushing carts since it doesn't take any strength (although it was slightly uphill and I only used one hand sometimes), but I did.

It was pretty bad for a while, where it'd really hurt just from stretching it a little too far. It's been two years though and I think/hope it's gone. For a long time it's been extremely mild, where I'll just get a sharp pain from time to time when I twist or stretch my shoulder too much, or when my backpack is too heavy. I don't think I've gotten that in months though.

Man, that sucks.

I had the tip of my finger cut off at work - by my manager, no less. No bone was taken with it or anything; just a good sized chunk of flesh that now makes my right index finger look kinda slanted and is missing a fingerprint.

We were taking apart a clothing rack together, and I had my finger stuck inside the metal frame and she pulled... bye-bye fingertip. I thought I just got my skin pinched until I saw the blood all over my hand. Man, and the funny part is I still went in to work the next day.

wow; I think you maybe top mine? Or at least tie with mine... your story is a lot more interesting, but I may have been hurt worse. Sorry :(

So I worked at a hardware store a few years back. Well when I applied I could either be a "store helper" or a Cashier... store helper sounded so cool. I though I got to pretty much do everything and what ever I wanted. NO. I did all the low work nobody eles wanted too...

Took out garbage, cleaned accidents up, cleaned toilets... everything and anything icky. Needless too say I got switched over to a cashier pretty quick. However before I had the chance too I was loading up some guys Toilet into his cart... then was expected to bring it out too his car. So when I picked it up I had it just fine. Yeah it was heavy but not really heavy well he felt the need to help last minute as I was lowering it into his cart.

His way of helping was spinning the box around and dropping it in my hand and fingers. It broke two of my fingers and super messed up another two and my hand it was swollen forever and I still have a scar from it being squished between the carts side and my fingers. I wanted too kill that guy... but it was my first job or eles I would have.

my god that's awful :( glad you're okay now though. Who does that kinda thing anyway? Shattered coffee mugs? Did he want to save them for future use or what? I work from home though, so I get nothing worse than a stiff back and an overworked computer :P

We found out who did it. I feel kind of bad because it's one of the new guys, and I'm guessing he probably felt like an idiot asking where the coffee mugs went.

The manager was pissed. He's on a two month probation and a week of work suspension.

I worked today back on cash, and it hurt a lot to move my shoulder. It's still very stiff and sore, but my doctor says it's nothing to worry about, unless I've torn a part of my muscle, which he thinks I have. I go back in next week, but right now, I'm just enjoying putting heat on it and resting.

If it were a contest, I think my cousin would win. He was crushed to death when the body of a cement truck fell on him. It's why I'm very nervous about my brother's working construction.
