People all over the world are losing their jobs, and as a result, losing their houses and posessions. Yep. This is expected to be the biggest financial crisis since the 1930s, and it's predicted to get alot worse over the next few months.

This may fit better in another forum, I really don't know. It's an issue affecting alot of people, but it also could probably go under 'current events'. Do with it what you will, Subeta Staff. c:

All I really wanted to know is, has anyone else on here been affected? If so, how badly? Anyone have any solutions for keeping up public morale in these hard times? Any ideas about positive thinking or money-saving strategies?

Everyone I know has been effected, and that really isn't an exaggeration. My mother lost her job of nearly 25 years and hasn't been able to find work since, despite having excellent experience and training. My father is working only three days a week because his company can't get enough orders to run 5 days. I graduated university this spring with a highly desirable degree in an excellent field, and I'm bumming around my parents' house, tending their dogs, gardens, and house because I can't find work anywhere. My friends from university, including a kid who studied under Stephen Hawking's favorite grad student and kids who graduated top of their class in nuclear physics are unemployed.

Then there are my friends elsewhere. I went back to a chat room I basically lived in for 5 years while I was away at school, only to discover that out of everyone there that night, only one person still had a job.

Still, I shouldn't complain. By some miracle and my parents' common sense when it comes to money, somehow they are still managing to save pennies a month, rather than be losing thousands of dollars. For me, that's a huge comfort, as is knowing that I'm not alone in not being able to find work. It sucks that my friends are jobless too, but at least I know that I'm not some kind of failure, that it isn't a problem with me specifically. Just find small joys, the kind that don't cost money, and hold on to them. My family and friends will get me through.

For me, it's a less dramatic thing, the recession is only just beginning to affect those in my area and my family. My dad, thankfully, still has his job. But my mam's being faced with redundancy and can't find any other jobs. My oldest brother, 35, will be made redundant at the end of July, and he has his own wife and two young children to support.

I haven't got any outstanding qualifications, but my parents are soon going to be burdened with the expenses of tuition fees for me and my other brother. We're both starting at colleges and universities pretty soon. And as well as that, no one wants to hire teenagers in my area, so I can't easily find a job to help support my family.

Personally, I blame capitalism for all of this.

Everyone's been affected by the recession. Some more than others really.

My mother's thankfully stable with her job, but my dad can't find a job for himself. Even getting a summer job for me is difficult. My friends too.

I'm starting college in the fall along with my twin sister so it's quite difficult financially. I'm paying my way through college, but I learned that my state may have to pull some grants because of the budget deficit. Not good. :
