I know I am possibly talking out of my butt here but it somewhat bugs me a lot now.
Come on guys why the anime drawings?
As much as I love to see big eyed girly boy fancakes. I often find myself brushing off most of th artwork on subeta. Dont get me wrong. I love most peoples coloring styles and other things...but it gets a little too repetitive for me.
Now I've been drawing for 5 years or so. And yes anime/manga art style was the basis for it but then I had my father come to me and he said this.
"Whats this japanese bullshit?"
Insulting words true but at the time I got angry and mad and said to him that he didnt know art and stuff but as I got older in the year. I knew he was right. I needed to expand by this...But comming on here makes me ask why the same repetitive style?
sigh rant sigh
Because it's what Ive adapted to and grew with. When I saw my first anime show, I wanted to draw like that because I loved it so much (Inuyasha). And same with my first manga (Tokyo Mew Mew), I loved the style, it was really pretty, and it's what I wanted to try, it stuck with me. I do other styles, but I stick with my 'anime' style because it's comfortable to me. I agree it gets repetitive, but for the artists who do a different style, it's better for them, in a way because they are something new and different.

don't be dissin' the desu.
but in all seriousness, people draw what they want. they want to draw anime. so they draw anime. xD
but the people who truly grow in their style do experiment, but we all have a base for our styles. n-n
I think drawing in anime style kind of helped me open up to drawing with different colours and stuff, and getting me into it. Though I would have been so much better off if I had started drawing real people with good body proportions instead of pretty mango drawings. But really, if i hadn't have done fun stuff to get me into it, I would not have made so many drawings :x I just hope people that get a liking to drawing step away from animu and develop their other skills. Other than that, if they want to sell it on subeta, go for it. I think more people go for that. Also where I am now, I don't know how to get away from anime, other than drawing photographs of people facing me with pencil ; A;
You know what bugs me even more? People who say things like that, lumping everyone into the same category of DESUDESU clones.
Yeah, this post was abrasive. Let me try and explain my rage. XD. To me, your original post was tactless. Saying something like "I wish there was more of a variety of styles on subeta", would be more effective than "Everyone's style is repetitive and my dad said anime was bullshit and I agree with him".
Pretty much agree with Noveau. What if a Japanese artist came up to your art (assuming you draw mostly in an American cartoon style, judging by your forum set,) and said, "What is this American bullshit?" It's the same principle. There are certain types of styles that different people enjoy. Anime is one of them. Not every artist who draws in a Japanese inspired style is drawing in the same anime style you seem to loathe so much, just like not every artist who draws in a cartoony style like yours is emulating the same thing. Realism doesn't take anymore talent than drawing (decent) anime does.

You're on a website that has been influenced by the art style of anime, and many of its users are also influenced by anime. I have seen people try to sell realistic art on here and they have little to no success because of lack of interest. The general market demands anime-style.
Lol I suppose i ts my own experience with it has gotten to me. Sure it was tactless on my part. But I am not as one person argued back, making everyone realism artists. And I wouldnt diss the more creative artists on the site like yourself.
The reason my dad did what he did, was not meant to be hurtful. Least I like to think about it like that in a sense. But I gotten to think over that course of that year where would my art take me. One person also put in their post, I dont know how to pull away from that type of art. That happened to me, and I started to think in a buisness sense with art. Art though fun and entertaining for me, is going to be my job. I am going for school to be a concept artist. I want to be making illustrations and also want to be a computer animator and put in work for nick and disney/pixar. I had to grow out of that style because in a sense it was keeping me back. Understand this were I am comming from. I am not chastizing you guys and saying you guys are idiots for having anime style, ha ha. No.
I am mearly asking in my brashful way.
Why?
Any decent artist that draws in the 'anime' style will eventually shape their style to be more unique. I personally hate the cliche anime style, which is why I'm actually studying to work on my drawings. The lazy folk will stick with tracing whilst refusing to study.
However. You can't sit here and say 'anime' is anything with big eyes and small noses. Pretty sure Disney does that too.
You know what, let there be Anime crap. Makes the rest of us who have our own styles stand out more and feel better about ourselves. XDDD
is a jerk
I notice a LOT of Disney-styled art too.... and for a while that was getting on my nerves too. @;;;
