That depends a lot of the cult. some use it to advertise the cult, or make new contests. Others use it for giveaways or to purchase layouts for the cult. It just depends, but if you're going to join a specific cult, it would be best to ask the head person what they plan to do that with that stuff since there's no real... rule as to what they can and can't do. ;)
