So, I have a new computer, Vista 64 bit home edition.

I have a new photoshop : CS4.

Everything works fabulous except for when it decides to play it's own game.

Like... I can click on something, and it will suddenly disappear. Or I can try and paint, and it won't paint.

My graphics card is perfectly capable of handling the load. The driver is fully updated.

CS4 is fully updated.

What the hell is going on?

I remember that this occurred every now and then in MS Paint on my XP. :x Wondering what this issue is.

Sometimes that happens to me. I have no idea what causes it. I just close it, restart the computer, and things seem to be okay again.

Ah, thanks for moving it.

Yeah, I do that repeatedly, but it can be a bit of a trial when you're trying to animate a 30 frame blinkie. :x

I honestly think that it's just that you're running it on Vista. =[ If you can do anything in your power to get a hold of XP, you should do it. From my personal experience, Vista kills everything that you love. It's a terrible, horrible creation.

Also, if you can remove vista and add XP, every thing will run faster because Vista requires a truck load of RAM to function normally.

I haven't a clue as to how much the XP disks costs or any thing of that nature, I cried when it completely killed something I spent a long time on and my boyfriend went and got XP for me. =/

store bought licensed XP is around $150 USD. And until 7 gets polished, is still the best bet for a windows OS.

I think the wisest thing to do is to wait to "downgrade" your computer to XP and contact the costumer service on Adobe.com, since they should know better about their product than a forum on Subeta.

That is the problem. Trust me, you will lose a lot of nerves with it. It does things the wrong way and you will end up buying a new computer =(

I won't be buying a new computer, trust me. This is 2 weeks old and is a perfect computer, despite this.

I have an XP but this Vista is faster, and I needed a new computer from my XP laptop. I won't be downgrading.

So far I have found no issues with Vista at all, but the strange thing is I just realized that I haven't been opening the '64 bit' CS4, just the regular. Maybe a problem fixer?

I have a decent size RAM on here and a fast processor, so I'm not too worried about the computer as a whole, just the photoshop. I'm talking to Adobe as suggested, and I'll update everyone here on what happens! :)

The comments left are appreciated.

i'm on a mac now, but i never had a problem with my vista in all honesty. i've read some bad things about it, but i wouldn't think the whole operating system would be what's bringing things down. good luck on getting your issue fixed. after buying cs3 out of my own pocket, i am in no hurry whatsoever to upgrade to cs4, especially not after some of the horror stories i've seen!

:/ So talked to the tech people, and we went through the Q & A process, and they suggested turning off the Enable OpenGL Drawing feature. Done and done, and it worked fine for one commission, and I am having an issue again. Wtf? Ugh. Still working on this.
