Speculation is going around that NK is going to bomb Hawaii on July 4th. I live in Wisconsin, I'm not /that/ worried about getting hit, but I have relatives in the UP who are FREAKING out. Like, they don't want to leave their houses.

Now, I've read up on this a tiny bit, and to my knowledge it seems like NK doesn't yet have the technology to actually hit us, or that their missiles will even be nukes. But it's still the fact they are trying to hit the US, that the WANT too. That bothers me. :(

i've been speaking with associates about this for the last few weeks. what surprises me the most is how LITTLE information is circulating about this situation. between NK and iran, there is more than enough threat to keep the media happy. so... where is it?

I know! It does make me wonder though. I mean, the more we keep saying how they CANT make missiles that will reach US soil, they might actually prove us wrong. Then what?

lol I find it hard to really believe anything related to this stuff anymore. It's been going on too long I almost feel used to it. But if NK does attack, or comes closer than they did last year..

i think making an attack on a national holiday is too obvious to 'send a message'. i suppose it would make more sense to rely on the element of surprise -- like 9/11 or pearl harbor.

i don't underestimate the capabilities or mental stability of certain countries/groups... so anything is possible, i suppose. however i think if i really felt the threat (to hawaii)... the last thing i'd do is stay in my house.

But I mean, they did try last 4th.. although this is all just speculation. I'm not sure really what proof they have for any of this. And I'm pretty sure if they did attack, we have the capability to destroy it midair. Before it hits US soil or hurts anyone. I dont underestimate them either, but it almost seems like since last time we are just making fun of them for not being as technologically advanced as our country.

If the attack is a for sure thing, I'm takin some time off work and maybe go vacation in like.. Europe or something lol xP

I briefly heard about it. Whatever news article it was claimed that Hawaii is at least several hundred miles out of their range though.

Personally, I'm not inclined to believe it at all. It'd be an insanely stupid move to bomb the U.S. when we have the power to wipe them off the map. Granted, Kim is both insane and stupid, but even he must realize it'd be a suicidal move.

It seems to me more like an empty threat by a delusional government. I'm sure they have more than enough hate to bomb the shit out of us, but I don't think they have the technology or resources. Even if they did manage to blow up Hawaii, there's now way they'd be able to stand up to our retaliation.

Right, Hawaii is 4500 miles from NK. And it would be suicide for them. But still, empty threat or not is /is/ a threat (allegedly).

I really think that NK would be more likely to blow themselves up than anything else. Plus they must realize we would bomb the living shit out of them back and then they'd be totally screwed.

Now, Iran I'm a little more concerned about. :|

i'm of the mindset to believe in a covert, underhanded maneuver (duh, right)... like rallying 'Axis Powers' into position. WW3 2012 is what they chant for fun. but in all seriousness, no one should be allowed to make such public threats to anyone.

I'm not surprised this isn't in the media. None of the attacks that have happened on US soil were "surprises". They were allowed to happen for various reasons, so this, if it is a true threat that has potential to be carried out ... I hate to say it, but more than likely, the PTB would let it be carried out.

So hurry up and vaca now w/ palm trees while you can.

Yeah I've watched news stories about this. Apparently, North Korea is saying that it's never going to reach Hawaii, so they're aiming it there... idiots. My sister is going to college there and one of my friend's family lives there. I hope North Korea just blows themselves up -_-

Personally, I wouldn't be too worried. As stated, it seems that NK is a bit behind in the military technology department. Also, I assume NK would come out much worse if a war was started because of old Kim Jong-il missiling about. The only thing that I'd be worried about is if his mental and physical health deteriorates further and he decides on his death bed that he wants to go out with a 'bang'. But then he'd be fucking up the chances for his son (his successor), so it depends on what he values more.

I keep hearing stories from my fiance that they have nukes. I'm pretty sure they don't have that technology, has anyone heard or read something about NK having nukes?

His family just freaks out. I think they are taking it way too seriously. I highly doubt NK's missiles being able to reach Hawaii, so I really think all you guys going to Hawaii (lucky SOBS! lol) are going to be ok :)
