HEY EVERYONE, GET READY FOR A CRITIQUE-ME-THREAD![/center] Name: Pauline Leland (Polly)

Looks: Short, scrawny, with curly brown hair, lavender eyes (caused by ocular albinism), medium-hued skin. Usually wears shirts that are much too large for him, ideally loudly-colored and striped. Ties little star-shaped bells into his hair, and they jingle obnoxiously when he moves. Is obsessed with wearing matching gloves/socks and gets very irritable if he can't find the right colors.

Personality: Polly is mischievous, energetic, and is a major optimist. He's quick to smile, and desperately wants to be outgoing, but he's also somewhat wary of speaking to people his age in the fear that they will "bully" him. He's extremely imaginative and often gets bored easily. When this happens, he shifts into one of his "alternate personalities".

These aren't actually different people, and he doesn't have a split-personality disorder; they're just personas that he can turn on and off like an actor, but when he gets "into character" it's very hard for him to get back out. One of them is a haughty Martian prince, one is a lion-raptor crossbreed that can change color, and one is a chirping, overly-curious alien chicken.

Skills/pros: Excellent painter, very cheerful, musically inclined, often nice. Failures/cons: Extremely bad eyesight and light sensitivity, thinks the world revolves around him, easily bored, somewhat irritating, socially awkward.

I'm actually pretty happy with this character but there's always room for improvement and I'm aware that most of my characters are "unusable", i.e. no one wants to RP with them. It's not so much that he hates bullying (say, because of a bad experience or whatnot) but he doesn't like the IDEA of bullying and it keeps him from even trying. If he ever gets into a really bad situation he'd probably just make it worse by drawing an invisible weapon and shooting his attackers. D:

But he sounds like a fascinating character, and I like how you've justified his odd appearance. There are so many cliche mary-sue characters who have 'strange eyes' that are extra-sparkly or an odd colour, but without any particular reason. You've actually justified it with a sicentific term, I like that, it makes the character more realistic and believable. Great stuff. :3

Thank you. :D As he ages, Polly is going to have to get glasses and may eventually go blind. He gets irritated when people dare to suggest he has problems seeing, so that will probably stall his diagnosis for a while.
