Do you write poems or songs? Are you in a band and you are the lyricist?

I'm going to get back into poetry, but I don't know how to start! I am trying to write a song for my boyfriend's solo project (with guests) and I just can't even start. I have the subject and all, too.

[edit] OMG I AM GETTING SO FED UP. I have been sitting here for hours and hours trying to think of how to go about this and I don't even have a first line yet.

: I know that songwriting does go under general creativity, but lyrics and poetry fit well under writing discussion, so moving.

...Yes?

Haha, I write a little poetry from time to time, but it never rhymes. :D I use a stream-of-consciousness method in my writing, which can always be refined if it gets too rambling. :D

Hahaha, I love how the topic title is Poetry and the last poster is, well, . =P

Anyway, yeah, I do write poetry, but only when I'm really in the mood any more. And only free verse. Rhyming can be okay, but usually I like to let the words and their meanings and fluidity from one to the other do all the work.
