What on earth does "make an alert" mean?

It gives an automatic reminder when your pet is out of the resort. It's also installed with training your pets.

Shouldn't it do that anyway?

I think Keith said that he was working on putting alerts on most time-based things on the site. so now I guess you can choose whether or not you want an alert for the resort, whereas before it was automatic.
