is it worth the money?

Up to you, it's a fairly large gamble :) You get either an item worth around 50k or an item worth about 2.5m (approx. - market value does change) and the change for 2.5m item is on the low side... i have seen a fair few people get no tomes in like 10 quests, but also people who get it on their first try :)
