Is there a way to heal yourself during battle? I was fighting the lizard minion, got him all the way down to 30 health points and the next turn he was up to 111 health points. I couldn't heal myself and he defeated me.

Quills will generally heal you, but www.subetaHQ.com has a whole section devoted to healers, in the battle part. Pick one depending on your pet's health. :)
