My mom's getting a spinal tap/lumbar puncture tomorrow, and she's so scared. She'll randomly start crying over it. She keeps wanting to cancel it she's so scared. Does anyone have any advice to help her be more calm about this? (I apologize if I have any articulation fail.)
Perhaps your mother could fit in a quick apointment with her doctor before the process. When I was going to get foot surgery, my podiatrist prescribed me Valium, wich is basically a medicine that calms your nerves (a relaxant.)
There are many other relaxants out there that your doctor can prescribe. :)
They don't seem to want to give her extra meds, but my dad's calling to try and reason with the hospital people. And now family members are "helping" by telling her horror stories.
