I think if you use it, you get some sP back. I doubt it's much, though.

Point of advice- selling coins will bring about more sP than if you were to vend them. I think the numbers were set a looooong time ago, so inflation has made the sP prizes really trivial now. No idea about any (if any) item prizes, though.
