It says that at the glade whether or not you have bottles. It's normal.

You have to buy a bottle first. for example.

Does it do anything if you fill a regular bottle? Or just the ornate pitcher?

if you feed a regular bottle to your pet, you get a bizzare experiment camel thingy XD
