I wasn't here for the event last your and I only just found out that it is a specific type of mask you need to dance with others during the event. Does anyone happen to know if the Gear Ring Mask is one that I can use?

: i don't think that was one of the masks that could be used. but it may be this year, there were a lot of masks released since last years masquerade.

Yes, the mask you're wearing is perfectly fine to use. I used it last year. :)
