So, today I hung out with friends and we decided to watch a movie. One of my roommates chose Annie Hall which is apparently one of her favourite movies. I don't think I've ever been so bored in my life. I cannot for the life of me understand why people love this movie. Never have I seen a more pretentious movie. I could only find ONE criticism of it online. Whatttt

I also hated Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Again, I found it just really boring.

Are there any really popular movies or "classics" that make you want to scream? Rant about them to me!

Wall-E. Oh god, Wall-E.

I found the merchandising campaign around this movie to be incredibly hypocritical.

Second, I was not fond of its portrayal of "lazy humans" vs "good, hard-working robots" . The protagonist also got on my nerves. I just...didn't find him adorable like most people did. I had no problems with the other characters (MO the cleaning bot was amazing and AUTO was a strong PIXAR villain) but Wall-E just really, really annoyed me.

It is, by far, my least fav PIXAR film. Well, maybe except for Cars 2, but everyone hated Cars 2, so it doesn't really count.

I agree with you about Annie Hall. I caught on tv one night and was like hey this is the Woody Allen movie everyone is raving about, maybe I should watch this! I think it's because Woody Allen himself annoys the heck out of me. The only movie I found enjoyable by him was Midnight in Paris and he wasn't the lead actor in that one. Thank goodness. .__.

The Maltese Falcon is another movie that comes to mind. My friend and I watched it, because we love noir and old movies. Plus you can't go wrong with Bogart and something called a timeless classic, right? I don't even remember half of it and what I do remember is how horrendously boring it was. If I had watched this without knowing how esteemed it was, I would have said it was mediocre at best.

A recent movie that comes to mind is Skyfall. It's a good thing I had a sense of humor, because I couldn't stop laughing at the end. I'm not one for noticing every minute plot hole in a movie, so if I notice them, that means they are blatantly obvious. And it wasn't even the plot holes that did the movie in for me. It was how little sense events made. By far, an overrated movie (and song). I expected so much more from Bond given the anniversary.

I didn't like Annie Hall as much as I liked other Woody Allen movies either, but I didn't hate it.

Zelig is still for me, though. ;)

I'm probably going to get stoned for this, but I absolutely hated Avatar. My whole family ambushed me when I admitted this, and my mom still brings this up during phone conversations. =P Apparently, me not liking a movie is a huge deal for them.

If Woody Allen like approves of a movie that he had nothing to do with, I still won't see it. I boycott him. I thought Wall-E was adorable, but I do agree the lazy humans sort of rubbed me a tad the wrong way haha, I'd like to think I would not want to spend my life in a chair eating.

Yeah I can't stand him. If I wanted to hear New Yorkers complain about every detail of their lives I'd go outside, or even open the window. My roommate who loves him is all 'but you still might like Midnight in Paris, he's not in it!' I want to think I'd like it, we'll see, but again, it's associated with him...eh.. ahah I did like Skyfall but, I was disappointed! I loved the first and second 'new' Bond movies, but this one sort of fell flat for me. I can't put a handle on why, but yeah, I'd guess all the plot holes contributed.

I'm one of those people who, when asked about Avatar, says "I loved the graphics" or one of those lines. Take away the graphics and it really was not anything special at all haha

/shields you from the stones 8"D I don't like Avatar at all. I saw it 3D in theatres, which sucks even more, because I dished out my money for it because of the hype. .__. Maybe it's my nearsightedness or maybe it was the glasses, but I didn't really see anything in 3D. The graphics looked lovely, but the story made me want to bang my head against the chair in front of me. I kept thinking Pocahontas meets the Smurfs. YAAAAY. |D I'm still not sure what the hype was about. The 3D? Because it couldn't have been the story, right?

I liked that movie, because of the idea. Owen Wilson was charming in it, so that helped too. xD I'd say watch the trailer at least to see if you like it? To me, Skyfall was attempting to be smart, but it really wasn't. I'd like to think Bond and M are smarter than that. ;l

I went to see Avatar in the theater to see Michelle Rodriguez in 3D, not even gonna lie. That was my whole motivation. But yeah, aside from her, the only draw for me was the shiny graphics and the fight scenes. Otherwise, I agree with , it was like a cheap Pocahontas knock-off, but with aliens. And god, this makes me not want to see Skyfall at all. I was going to give it a chance, but considering the things I'm hearing... eesh. I'm a 007 fan, but I don't like Daniel Craig as Bond. : That alone gets me shot at. I'm sorry, but I'll stick with my Roger Moore movies, okay? Okay.

The other one that gets rocks thrown at me is that I didn't like the Avengers. Cool fight scenes, buuut... I didn't understand the hype. I mean, I like me some superhero movies, but I guess it didn't really click with me, I dunno. The best part in the whole movie was the Hulk finally giving Loki a well-deserved beatdown. I was waiting for someone to shut him up the whole time.

I'm not sure why they retired Pierce Brosnan in the first place. Daniel Craig looks old and I don't like him as Bond. ;s Did they run out of actors for Bond or something? /shrugs :c

The hype about Avatar was the 3D.

OH, I FOUND ANOTHER MOVIE I DIDN'T LIKE.

Rise of the Guardians.

I expected this to be a great ensemble cast movie. NOPE. JACK FROST - THE MOVIE.

75% of the movie was focussed on him. And, he was probably the character I was interested the less into from the get go.

Here I was about to ask which Avatar but I kind of knew from the discussion that it had to be the one with the blue cat people and not that atrocity live action one for the anime (or cartoon, whichever you want to call it.)

Thor is one movie I can't stand - it's beautiful from the artistic standpoint but it's otherwise badly written and acted. It's like the Attack of the Clones of Marvel movies. I expected better - got junk instead.

Rise of the Guardians, Wreck It Ralph and that... Dr Seuss thing (Onceler?? I can't even think of the proper title) are others I can't stand. For various reasons, mostly because all three annoyed me.

I really didn't like Avatar, and I didn't care much for the graphics either. Sure they were nice, but they didn't compensate for the movie being a let down. The 3D also gave me a headache, so I guess that's another reason I don't like it.

The Last Air Bender disappointed me more, though. I was expecting it to have so much more, like the Kyoshi (sp?) warriors, and for the fight scenes to be a bit smoother. Everything moved so slow and made me incredibly bored. Then the actors kept saying Aang really weird. They had an entire cartoon series where they say his name at the beginning of every episode, but they kept saying it differently. That bothered me so much.

Last one I can think of is Beautiful Creatures. I read the book a couple of years ago, so I was pretty excited for it to turn into a movie. I knew there would be differences, but I didn't expect almost every detail to be changed. I was picking out everything that was changed during translation and couldn't stand it the entire time I was watching. I know they can't have every single character appear, but some were far more important to the story than was let on in the film

And I believe the Dr. Seuss one you're thinking of is The Lorax. Personally, I thought it was cute, but I can understand why people didn't like it.

Where The Wild Things Are, just. Ugh, it's so boring and I walked out of it.

Twilight but no one hates Twilight more than Robert Petterson himself.

And Napoleon Dynamite is one of the most boring and stupidest movies I have ever seen. I have failed to see why people like it when it came out and I still fail to see the amusement in it. Just the name of it makes me cringe.

I totally agree with about Where The Wild Things Are. Everyone was so excited about it and I really looked forward to watching it and... it was just boring.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 was also a disappointment for me... If they had to make it into two parts, then I would've at least expected them to include more important details instead of all the wandering around and lots of scenery.

I also remember always wanting to see Daredevil and when I finally watched it like eight years after it came, I was just horrified because it was so poorly done, lmao.

Saw this on my friend feed.

But I agree about Where The Wild Things Are. I went to see that in the cinema and while some parts where cute it was incredibly boring and I'm not into those types of movies, anyway.

Also have to agree with about Deathly Hallows Part 1. I found that a little boring too and it was all kind of.. building up to Part 2 which was actually really good. I wouldn't even have minded if they had skipped out a bit of the not-so-important details on the first part to make it a little shorter, I don't know.

Eragon, I hate with a burning passion. I will literally see red every time someone says that it's good. Most of those people haven't read the book, of course u: Because in comparison it was horrible. Really horrible. I'm not sure how popular it really is but yeah, I just hate it.

And Jennifer's Body was a stupid movie and I'll never understand what was so great about it.

It looks decent, yeah. I am a fan of Owen Wilson, so I'll probably let my roommate show me it haha Definitely agree with you there. I know Bond and M shouldn't be Mary Sues but... that was a little too much, it really didn't feel like them even, to me.

I've actually never seen any of the old Bond movies! Just the Daniel Craig ones haha. I love him as Bond, but I've nothing to compare him to of course. I'd say he'll probably stay as my idea of Bond because of all that. I've heard good things about Roger Moore's portrayal though. I'm with you on the Avengers too. I went with a group who was all excited. I go to all the Iron Man movies, I've seen Thor, all that. But it sort of bored me. It felt like it was a really long movie, and I was happy it ended. Loki was totally different too, like his personality got upped from unhinged to over-the-top psycho villain. I also like how he stopped doing his eyebrows once he went totally mental haha

I've never seen that one, but all those types of movies - like cartoony actiony kids' movies with that type of animation - seem to be the same now. Or dumbed down, really.

I thought Thor was entertaining, but a lot of the writing + acting was laughable. Which is really why it was entertaining haha I never liked Dr Seuss even as a kid, so I always cringe when I see his books being made into movies. Like, noo I thought I was done having to hear about them. I always just found them irritating. And Wreck It Ralph... I didn't see it but one of my roommates did and she said it was such a disappointment :v I used to like "kid" movies like Up but I think they're changing too much now.

3D gives me a headache too! I always hate 3D stuff because of that. It really ruins the movie for me. Avatar was visually very cool, but.. I don't think I'll ever understand the 3D craze.

My best friend wants me to see Napoleon Dynamite because she really like it and.. ugh. I'm super not interested, it looks terrible! I keep making excuses about it, I'm dreading it haha Boring movies are even worse than other kinds of bad movies, to me. I've walked out on Elizabethtown, and Don't Mess with the Zohan. Both terrible moves, cringe-worthy. I love movies and I hate walking out, but sometimes you really do just have to.

Both of those movies, Part 1 + 2, really disappointed me. I grew up with the books like quite a lot of people, and they really didn't give it the finale it deserved. I mean, I wasn't a fan of the last book either.. but, the movies weren't even up to par on that.

I always hated Eragon too. :v I remember all the hype for the books, and the movie kind of withered and died. Good, I say.

Ugh, I wouldn't recommend watching it. You'll probably be like "wtf?" the whole way through. It is terrible, despite me seeing it in Spanish class. x_o I tried watching the English one and I changed the channel within minutes. It's that terrible, imho. Yeah, boring movies.. bleh. I heard Don't Mess with the Zohan wasn't so good, though I haven't heard much on Elizabethtown. :c
