It would be great to see some acknowledgement from the site that it is a user's birthday. It is already tracked in the site (look at that cute little cake), and as far as I know, one can't change it after entry.

We have all these lovely layouts. What if, for your birthday only, you automatically were switched to a bday theme. You could perhaps also have an increased chance of random events. Or lowered wait times for games / tasks. There could also be an achievement for having logged in on your birthday.

So, nothing big, just something to small to brighten someone's day. :)

So turns out I can't formulate a reply that doesn't sound totally bitchy. But...I just don't like this change, any time it's suggested. Neopets offered those benefits for birthdays and it used to drive me up the fucking wall that I had that ugly-ass site theme that I couldn't change, that I'd get a lot more REs but 90% of them were like that "You hear strange chanting" or "You see Jhudora staring off in thought" that I would've been a-okay without having to get.

We are not spoiled, entitled children. Not everybody has to give us things to commemorate our existence and make us feel like special snowflakes.

It would be sweet to have a little nod from subeta on your birthday. I agree with what wise said about the theme and extra events being like neopets and being wholly unnecessary, however a little birthday present would be nice. Maybe something like the Loyalty Box, untradable and just for you to use. Obviously the gift wouldn't be as extensive as the loyalty box, maybe like a small stat booster (like 1-3 stats like a shinwa item), a single TC space or a chance for a random item or (small) amount of sP, something like that would be nice. Since you can;t change your birthday, it couldn't really be abused.

To be honest, I don't think subeta needs to give anything at all to its users on their birthdays. In most cases, users who have the icon on already get tons of presents from other users on site and I personally consider that more than enough.

I always thought just a cute little sidebar alert saying "Happy Birthday" would be nice but I mean either way w/e. It's not important. Just sorta sweet?

i think a simple happy birthday message would nice, not sure about what special perks would be appropriate/doable but i wouldnt see why so many people would be against it.

I like this idea. And just acknowledging birthdays doesn't mean it has to be anything like neopets. I think it would be fun if the site gave you one random item, wrapped up of course. It wouldn't affect the value of anything, as it would be even fewer items added than vending, but it would be cute. As for a theme, I agree that one day is fine. A message wishing you a happy birthday, or a title that you could only use that day would be fun too.

There was a suggestion a while back that the site would send you a birthday cake item for your birthday. I still support that. Nothing gained or lost by receiving a piece of cake.

I wouldn't mind if every day on the news page, like under what's happening, if there was a link that said "Click here to see today's birthdays!" And then everyone having a birthday that day would be listed and we can go through and chuck some gifts at random people.

A layout would be a ton of work for the artists who already swamped. It wouldn't be compatible with the eventual recode anyway.

Some kind of birthday cake item or a few extra quests or something on birthdays would be cute. :)

i would prefer a way to see your friends birthdays (if they turn on the option) like a calendar, that way we could know when to get them presents and not the very same day or miss their birthday.

also the idea about make it part of the news could be nice or an event on your dashboard.

I don't think this is necessary. We have loyalty boxes for our on-site 'birthdays', which might not be quite the same as having something on your actual birthday, but.. I guess I'm just not bothered by a website with thousands of users not going out of their way to acknowledge my birthday (and everyone else's).

I think the gift idea that had was fun. Even if you didn't really choose a person, just were able to send a random gift to someone having a birthday today. Even if it was all junk, it would be fun to have a birthday gift of random things each year.

And I don't think I'm too much like Neopets because I acknowledge my friends' birthdays. There is a difference between doing things that are unique to Neopets and doing nothing they do at all just do be different.

I personally get really annoyed by my birthday, so I'm biased, but I don't like the idea of notifications or a layout. I like my birthday to pass with a minimum of fuss, so a birthday layout that I couldn't change would drive me up the wall.

I wouldn't mind a calendar letting me see my friend's birthdays, though - I know not everyone is a big ol' Grinch who wants to lock themselves in the closet until the Facebook notifications stop coming in (I have my FB birthday turned off for just that reason.... people who haven't spoken to me all year wishing me happy b-day aRGH). I'd like to gift people I know on their birthday.

I think 's suggestion about the so ute, omg. ys under What's happening would be so cute, omg. I also have long wanted a calendar for birthdays... thankfully most of my friends are in Unique and WE have a birthday calendar, but still. :P

Considering how much you seem to not like your birthday, I am surprised that you have the cake icon! In case you were not aware that you can disable it, it's an option here. :)

I love this idea! My birthday in real life is usually just another day so it would be nice for my Subeta birthday to be celebrated! :D
