Plot Smallville is a little farming town in Kansas, the type of place you can’t find on any map. If you decided to take the scenic route however, all you would see, aside from a couple of houses and a super market, is a Boarding School called Smallville High. Smallville High is about as notable as the small community that harbors it. There’s a school paper, a drama club, a science club, and a football team, the Smallville Crows, who have never even won a game. It’s the last place you would expect to find what Area 51 groupies could hardly dream of. The truth is Smallville isn’t exactly all that it seems, or, all that is doesn’t seem. What most people don’t know is that Smallville High is actually a magnet to the supernatural, from crash landing aliens, to lost amazon princesses, to genius rich kids whose parents sent them into the country for a little character building. What most people don’t know is that Smallville High is home to some of the greatest super heroes, and villains, to ever live.

Characters Unfailingsteve – Clark Kent
Skele (remember, feel free to make an original character) Name: Age: Gender: Powers: Clubs/Classes: Personality: Appearance: Bio:
My Skele Name: Clark Kent Age: 16 Gender: Male Powers: He has the ability to jump to extreme heights, and lift things about as heavy as a car. Clubs/Classes: Along with the usual classes he is taking journalism and physics (which technically is a normal class). He is also the founder of the school newspaper “the daily planetâ€, which covers topic a little too complicated for the average student at Smallville High. Personality: Clark is amiable and intelligent, but will occasionally get moody, and has a slightly more rebellious side. Sometimes when you talk to him you can tell he’s keeping a secret, but he’d never admit to it. His role models are physicists and other people of great knowledge. Appearance: Clark is about 5’11, with a sturdy build and bronze skin. His eyes are deep brown, and he has thick black hair. He usually where’s his Blue Smallville Hoodie (adorned with a red and yellow “Sâ€), baggy jeans and a pair of battered red sneakers. He has a sturdy build for a sophomore, and would make a good football player if it weren’t for his advantage. Bio: Clark never quite fit into the simple society of Smallville. First of all he was adopted, and there was no hiding it, because both of his parents were white, like most of the town’s residents. Second of all, his intellect was far beyond that of the town’s high school educated farmers. As a result of this he didn’t have a lot of friends as a kid, and was forced to stay at home with his fervent Christian parents who were convinced that their child’s arrival was an act of god, and he was some kind of baby Jesus. The more they pushed their religion upon Clark, the less and less he believed it, and the more he turned to science for answers. His father was not happy about this, and as a result they stopped getting along so well. As Clark got older his powers grew stronger, and what had started as extreme athleticism evolved into supernatural powers. Clark hid it from everyone, even his parents, because he was afraid of how they might react. One way or another he found out about his crash landing on earth, and his ultimate decision was to use his mind, not his strength, to succeed in life. Clark devoted all of his time to getting the school newspaper of the ground, and trying to forget about his powers.

Name: Evelyn Krantz
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Powers: Reactive Adaption - Evelyn can develop powers or abilities in certain situations, and they can either be permanent or temporary. Examples are Aquatic Respiration - after almost drowning - and invulnerability immediately before being hit by a semi. The minor powers - such as the former of the two examples - are permanent, though they do weaken after some time if they've been unused. Major powers such as invulnerability tend to fade away after a while, usually within a few hours to a few days.
Clubs/Classes: She takes the regular classes for the most part, though excels at German, English and Science. She's alright in maths, though prefers the other three. As for clubs, she's just in Drama club, though was in the school paper club in her freshman year (15-16). She later dropped out of it when she began with her medication, as she already had many other things to do and the school paper wasn't exactly at the top of things.
Personality: Evelyn likes to think of herself as being very organized, able to bring order to the chaos that is school work. Her folders and books aren't a single page out of place, her notes are pristine, and even despite missed lessons is able to keep on top of her work. She is rather afraid of making a mistake, though; this mainly applies to her performances in drama, as she wishes to keep her father pleased. Although she's orderly and well-organized, she's also rather impersonal and emotionally constricted - showing little to no interest in social interaction. Definitely a workaholic and punctual to the point, this often creates unneeded stress, though they're learned traits from how she's grown up. Due to how she acts she doesn't really fit in any 'social' group - not the nerds, not the popular kids, not the preps... but people are often coming to her if only for help with homework. Which she doesn't really appreciate at all, because it's not genuine interaction, and she can tell when she's being used. Despite her reclusive tendencies she can be warm, if a little socially awkward, and very kind to those that get to know her, and she makes for a very good actor.
Appearance: Evelyn's clothes are typically neat, clean, and not too showy. Evelyn always tends to look presentable overall, clothes especially - usually she wears a button down shirt, with a sweater if it's cold, and pants or jeans. So something bordering smart and/or casual, usually, with functional - sneakers or flats - shoes and minimal jewelry. Not that she's completely against jewelry, but it's not the best thing in a fight, even if she's not a superhero or villain yet. She always has a book with her, a well as her watch. Moving on to physical appearance, she's recently hit 5'5" and is still growing, though very slowly. She's not grown more than a few inches in the last two years, but she has grown. Her hair is naturally blonde, though has darkened to a more of a brown-blonde since she was little. However, she dyes it - currently she is more of a ginger color. Her skin is pale and she has dark circles under her slate blue eyes, though make-up tends to cover the latter problem right up. Minimal use, though, as she only uses the necessary amount to 'cover up' imperfections. She is quite athletic, but not perfect as her hyper-metabolism makes putting on muscle - or any kind of weight - quite difficult. She has an oval shaped face with deep set eyes, a straight nose and wide lips.
Other: Evelyn suffers with Graves' disease, the main symptoms being Hypermetabolism, hand tremors, disturbed sleep and an elevated heart rate. This surfaced around the time her powers first came into play, and makes sleeping rather difficult much of the time. However as this is believed to be a genetic disease it may not actually have anything to do with her powers... or it may. There's no real way to tell this without revealing her powers, after all. (Quoted from the article - "Treatment with antithyroid medications must be given for six months to two years to be effective." She'll have to be nineteen at the most before surgery is even an option to remedy this.) Despite her knowledge of the disease, her adaption hasn't done anything to remedy this, though she's been pulled out of physical education due to her overprotective father.
Bio: Evelyn's grandparents migrated to America fairly young, wanting to start a new life. Her grandfather made a living in an international - but not worldwide famous - business, which put the bread on his family for generations to come, provided it would be saved correctly. He'd wanted her father - Karl Krantz - to take over once he died.
But Evelyn's parents became scientists. Or rather, Evelyn's father was a scientist and she never really met her mother, but she assumed her mother had been a scientist, too. No, this isn't the generic 'scientist parents experimenting on their precious child!!!!' story, but her father's job is what ended up getting Evelyn her powers, if inadvertently. The family of three - Evelyn, her big sister Rose and her father, Karl - had originally lived in Los Angeles, but moved to Smallville when Evelyn was two, to 'get away from the big city'. It didn't explain why they hopped a few states, but what the hay. What Evelyn doesn't know, though, was that when she was still young, barely a few months old, another scientist - Ludwig Boehler, ironically a descendant of a rival to the Krantz business - had, in one night of drinking, mistaken two vials. One contained a deadly poison, one contained a serum that would unlock a gene that hadn't yet been perfected. Considering she's still alive today, it's easy to assume that Boehler ended up injecting her with the latter.
But you'd be wrong. He'd injected both at once - for logic came to the drunk as such - and by some miracle or saving grace they'd reacted with each other, unlocking latent powers that the young Evelyn shouldn't have unlocked in her life time rather than killing her outright. It didn't mess with her DNA much otherwise, just shifted a few genetics a little bit and made her immune to the poison. Her first adaptation. Karl Krantz, naturally, was not happy with the attempted murder of his child, and Boehler was charged with her attempted murder. He got 16 years in jail (and was released only a month or two ago). Due to what Karl Krantz felt was too low of a sentence, he moved them all to Smallville, Kansas. More coincidences, as soon Evelyn's adaptation loses control as a child - gliding from tall bookshelves as if flying, a story only her big sister Rose could have been there for, somehow managing to draw right up to the ceiling when she'd got carried away with crayons, not to mention the amount of times she'd ended up in her fathers room after a nightmare - teleportation. Her father, while intrigued, did not want to report his findings to any institution despite his job, as he feared he really would lose her this time, and so urged her to keep quiet about them, keeping her away from stressful situations... and most other kids. And anything dangerous in general, really.
Evelyn's powers went latent for a few more years out of disuse, but reemerged once again when she was 11, for some bullies had tried to drown her. She'd been a victim of bullies for as long as she could remember, and it was usually quite physical, but attempting to drown a classmate? Really, kids? However, her adaptation had chosen now to return, for suddenly she was able to breathe perfectly underwater, and she'd taken this opportunity to play dead. Her bullies had thought her dead and ran off, but by the time the police came - for one of them had really chickened out - she was not there. Actually, by that point she was safely at home, having ran back. She'd excused the event for 'having fallen into a puddle' and while her father believed her, he was still protective - and always worried in case her 'powers' returned. She's not told him again, as she's finally living a mostly normal life and doesn't want to change it.
She'd been known as the 'witch' since the 'drowning' incident among those who had known her in elementary school, but by the time she hit 17 years of age most of the bullies had lost interest and just ignored her instead. Or asked to copy her homework.
Most of them lost interest, anyway. A few still detested her enough to occasionally trip her up in the hallways or just generally attempt to bully her, but Evelyn's... confident enough that there's nothing to fear, anyway.
(( Psst, the whole invulnerability with the semi? I plan to do that at some point in the story, probably to 'expose' her powers if it becomes a must. I'll make sure it's not around the time a fight happens though, or before someone else's villain attacks, so that it wouldn't be godmodding. (Thus, keeping it fair.)))
