When you ping a forum group in a post, the following page takes forever to load, and sometimes it doesn't load at all ("site is down" messages and such). Is there anything that can be done about this? I saw someone else mention it recently, so I know it's not just happening to me.
It's so bad that I've started opening a new tab after submitting my post, watching for the ping alert, and then closing the tab I made the post in because it's still sitting there trying to load. I don't know how long this has been going on, but I've been noticing it more and more lately and it's driving me crazy. D:
I don't even know what's causing it. Maybe that page is sending out pings to everyone in the group, and that's why it takes so long? If that's it, there has to be a way to split it up so the server handles that separately and we don't have to deal with the wait time.
(I hope this is the right place for this thread? It's not really a suggestion or a bug.)

I've realised that I kept missing ping group pings from various place :/
I think the bigger the ping group the longer the lag is what's going on with this?

So judging from how inactive this thread is, I guess this doesn't affect/bother other people as much?
I accidentally pinged "wardrobe" (407 members) instead of "wearable" (1645) the other day, and my post went through just fine. When I went back to correct my mistake, Calvin Blackmoon popped up to tell me the site was down (and this wasn't during the crazy holiday lag). That, and I can't remember ever having an issue with a small, personal forum group I use.use, so I definitely think size has something to do with it. Wearable is the biggest group I'm in, but there are probably bigger groups out there somewhere... I'm curious what it's like pinging one of them.

This seems more like a problem, so moving to P&B.
I got a lot of lag when I pinged tsrestock (2770 members) yesterday. I stopped the page from loading after a while so I don't know how long it would've taken or if I'd get the Calvin Blackmoon page. There's no lag when I ping sbqrs (87 members) so I think you're right about the group size causing lag.
I have suspected for awhile that this is also what causes so many double and triple pings by one person with the Token Shop restocks and sometimes the old SBQ ping group, although I'm also working on a theory that the size of the topic has something to do with that as well XD
