I just saw some threads on the pet boards about available names but I'm curious how you find out if a petname is already taken or not without creating the pet.

You can search for any word on Subeta. You will get user names, pet names and any items with the name. Its found in the home or Subeta section depending on which menu you use.

That link is actually more reliable than the Search function that sometimes doesn't show Pets on frozen accounts. C:
