Although I've really been loving the free shop giveaway this year, all the lag is killing me. It's literally taking minutes for my browser to load the shop enough to RS a single item due to the massively high number of items restocking. The lag almost makes the giveaway not worth it for me because it's so hard to actually get anything from the shop.

Is it really too much to ask that there would be a slight limit on the number of items that stock each time? Just a slight limit so that maybe the number of items stocked wouldn't cause the page to lag every time users like myself try to restock something from the shop. It's starting to get ridiculous because of all the extra time it takes to load all of those items.

At this point, I'd rather see the shop empty on occasion than seeing never ending rows of items as it makes it near impossible for me to get anything. Please. Otherwise I've really been loving the free shop giveaway this year, don't mind at all that there's less rare items to be had.

I'm not sure if this belongs in site feedback but I feel that something needs to be done.

I did post about my similar experiences on the other free shop related thread and I will say that it is just as hard for me as it is for you. I suppose another suggestion would be for it to clear out at some point (even a partial clearout would help). At this point, I am getting more 502 errors from the shop than items.

I was just coming here to post, "do we really need 10,000 items stocking at once?" It's so massive that my browser temporarily hangs every time I load the free shop. o:

I'm getting this problem too. Each visit takes over a minute to load and makes my browser window start flickering. I don't think it's unreasonable to slightly cut back on the sheer number of items that get restocked each time to make the load manageable.

Yeah, it's really getting crazy. At first I thought it was just my browser or maybe my internet connection since we changed some of our network settings but it clearly seems to be an issue with the site itself. Fortunately I haven't had too many 502 errors yet knock on wood but I have been experiencing tons of server lag & frustration that it takes way too long to restock anything from the shop.

Clearing out the free shop every once in awhile certainly would help substantially.

Yeah I noticed it too... takes nearly 3+ minutes to load, freezes the screen..... :( Just a little annoying.

As much as I generally like the Free Shop, where are the Melody items?! :/

I don't want to complain about generosity of all things, but I don't think dumping enough items at a time into the Free Shop that the scrollbar becomes that small is a good idea. It causes a lot of lag for people. Is it not also hard on the servers, making the entire site slower?

i for one have called it quits with the giveaway, because the sheer number of items is using up way more memory than i'm honestly comfortable with a single tab using.

is there any reason that shop isn't being cleared more frequently to prevent exactly this sort of thing?

The entire site is lagging for me now, and I have to wonder if the free shop is part of the problem.

Yea experiencing the same I am having huge lag when entering the free shop. Now 502 errors as well.

I love the idea of a free shop giveaway! It just needs a couple of changes.

Perhaps it could give 5 random items per hour instead of one per every five minutes. This would be compensated by having a better pool of items that would make it less likely to run into a common rarity for instance.

The other day, it was clearing out. I remember going in there and every 15 minutes or so it was empty, and it would start again from there. Idk why it stopped. It seems like it stopped after they fixed the issue of the page title telling you what you're getting.

This is getting ridiculous though. lol I can't believe the amount of lag that shop is causing. I'm afraid if they stuff anymore items in there, it's going to crash my entire browser.

I'm assuming the massively stocked Free Shop is a glitch?

I also hate the huge wishlists that make the site crash. On that same note, it would be great if the Foods Eaten and Books Read pages were paginated.

It's great and all that they're keeping the shop well-stocked, but, um... I'm pretty sure it doesn't need to have that many items. lol

I'm still able to load it, but it does cause my browser to hang quite a bit.

[edit] I've also been around for most of the day, since around noon subeta time, and I don't recall the shop clearing at all today.

Yikes the lag is awful, I do love the free shop though. Hopefully this will get resolved.

I think part of the reason it might not be clearing out is because people aren't really keen on the low rarity items in such abundance. Right now, these items are already worth a tiny fraction of their normal shop selling price. Throwing them into the Free Shop is tanking them even more. Some of those minions sell for 1sP in User Shops. We're already practically getting them from free without the Shop adding even more.

I dunno...I like the idea of the Free Shop but this time it seems like it's just throwing items indiscriminately at us, rather than thinking through what the shop is offering.

yeah this is pretty horrible for everyone and benefits no one and I'm pretty sure it's been long enough in the giveaway that the problem with keeping the free shop full of worthless items like this was a poor choice...
