I've been searching for this answer on my own, but I haven't had much luck.

So we CAN get a Bumbus from the zapper? The old posts I've found some have said yes and some have said no.

Can both zappers turn a pet into a Bumbus? Or only one of the two?

I am someone with shitty zapper luck in general and I got a Lilac Bumbus from the Zapper v2 a while ago so it's definitely possible! :)

I can confirm that zapper v1 can zap bumbus too. I just got a spectrum bumbus a few hours ago from zapper v1 (but didn't keep the pet of course).

While zapping for a Bumbus myself I indeed had gotten a nightmare Bumbus (color AND species in the same zap) using Zapper 1. So it can be done it's just pure luck and determination.
