Is anyone else having the problem where the alerts or other events cannot be cleared out? No matter how many times I click them to eliminate them, they are still there when I come back. Even after shutting my page down.

Yes, pretty much everyone has been having a problem clearing alerts (and there's actually a board not far below yours about the same topic XD). This thread has been made about the issue and there are a few potential solutions you can find there.
