Okay so I understand that using a Miracle Potion II allows you to change your pets species, while keeping the color. My question is what species are available to choose from? Is it limited to specific (i.e. non-limited edition) species?

No, it can be any specie, including experiments, Bhakorus, Bumbus and Aeanoids
