No, you're not the only one, I think the Pherret is FINE. But, somehow this has escalated into a gigantic argument about something that WILL. NOT. BE. CHANGED. This is not the place for people to advertise their artistic merit, or to have almighty fights with the artist who drew it.
Critique the pet, and then deal with the fact that no matter what you say, it won't be changed. And, think about the fact that some people don't want it to be changed, and your redraw will not be any more perfect that the image we already have.

If Sevva was ever hired as a staff artist, I'd consider leaving Subeta becaus, if her version of the Glacier Pherret is any indication, all of her pets would suck.
If you want a pet that looks more like the Common Pherret, get a Common Pherret. Honestly, I LOVE that it doesn't look like the Common Pherret because it's NOT the Common Pherret. It's supposed to be different, as Glacier is one of the more 'unique' options rather than a simple recolor.
It is a Glacier pet, it looks like a Glacier pet, and that's how it should look. I think it looks magnificent; in fact, I'd have one -yesterday- because it's just that pretty (if I didn't already have 10 pets XD ). I love the contrasting mask; very snowy and wintery and win. Excellent job, Illusion. c:

Its really funny how this works... But usually the ones who are unhappy are those who you hear from. Most of the happy people are just sitting and smiling. Saying that most people want it to change is not really the case.

I stated my opinion, and supported it with facts. The colors are backwards. Fact. I like it better with a mask. Fact. I think it should be redrawn. OPINION.
You act as if I'm some un-knowledgeable little sniveling child. And yes, it is possible to make close to everyone happy, it is. You do what Rah herself has done. You change things. The Anyu was changed, was it not? And not once or twice, there were what, 3? 4 different revamps to choose from? =/
Excuse me, but I am not being irrational. People deserve the right to choose how they want things, and there is no opinion about that. People choose how they want things, and they get them done that way. Sure, it's impossible to make EVERYONE 100% happy, but it's the 98% others that you work towards. Some people will disagree for the sake of disagreeing. Some people will kiss anyones tush for attention or a pat on the head. People are this way, but it doesn't change the fact of the matter, that people deserve to choose how they want things.
And sorry, but I am NOT the only person who thinks it should have been colored the other way. I am possibly the loudest of these people, but in no way am I the only one.

And Arbor, our conversation? What conversation. As soon as I piled on the intelligence and reason you never replied. You just clammed up and hid away. I don't consider that a conversation. And yes, Arbor, that Kumos' anatomy was wrong, and dozens of other people tried to give you red-lines and help you out with it, but you quite coldly refused to even acknowledge that your work was somehow imperfect.
No, I may not be an artist. No, I may never be hired, and if that's because I would rather spend the extra time to give people more choices, then I guess that's my own fault. But where I come from you work for what you get, and you work hard. You don't do things lazily and say it's "just good enough to please some," if that were the case, my entire family would be jobless.
You work for a body-shop, for example, or a tattoo parlor. You do some fantastic paint-jobs on cars, and then you do some lazy, sloppy works. People will not remember you for the good you did. It's not human logic to perceive people as "human." We strive for the best, to be better than our neighbors, to be more cunning and linguistic then our peers, and that striving for perfection, is what runs the entire world.
Yes, Subeta is a team, but as a team the team members should take into consideration each singular digit's point of view. Each tiny person, each individual player has a certain desire. And those people add up. They add up really fast. Then when you tell people that you will simply not bend, not conform, not change even the tiniest of things, the people wonder why. They want the best, that's what they expect to receive from someone with the prestigious title of "Artist."
I'm sorry, but while many things I have said are opinions, not one of them wasn't backed up with truth or facts. And as it is -15 degrees outside and bloody cold in my house, my fingers are too frozen to type about this anymore.
But I implore you all, really I do, to have a conversation with me. I implore you to speak to me outside of here, feel free to message or comment me. I do not fear other people's opinions. I accept them, and I take them heavily into interest. And perhaps one of you may even change how I think a little. That would be something special.

Necolasa its nice but I don't think that it looks right. The head isn't angled the correct way for the other ear to be visible ^^; Which would be why the artist drew it with only that one ear in sight. My boyfriend has four ferrets and when they sit up like that you can't see both ears (=

There are critiques that are helpful, but only when the critiquer knows the difference between opinion and anatomy of a colour.
Keshi and Rah (again) are right, Sevva. You are not helping anyone by comlaining about Illusion's wonderful work and by fixing it so that it is the way that you want.
Example: if I wanted all my pets to look the way I wanted, I would be frozen in an instant for criticism. They are all beautiful as the artists drew them, and if I wanted them to have some special markings or the like, I wouldn't pester and gripe about it. That's why I draw all my pets myself, in my sketchbook, and that is the way I shall keep them.
Illusion deserves cookies and candy for all of this.

Did anybody listen to me? What's wrong with change? I love the different mask. And to those redrawing it: get it out of your heads that you can be better than the artists. They're on the site for a reason. I truly apologize for you all killing Illusion for this; she did a lovely job.
The way I've seen it in the past, Glacier pets are all about being subtly cold and chilly. The only colors in it are white, gray, and light blue. Mostly white. White makes it look subtle and calm (don't know if those are the proper words -- how about cold and icy?).
Sevva -- grow up. Get away from being so selfish. Don't be so (forgive me) evil. The artists are on the site for a reason - and you didn't prove ME wrong.

The thing about Glacier pets is that they are meant to be a nearly white pet. If you haven't noticed, all the other glaciers have a white base. Even if the common version of the pet had a dark base and light accents, the glacier would still have a white base no matter what. That's just the way glacier is.
As mentioned we tried a grey-blue mask and it did not look right, the majority of us voted the white mask. It was way too much contrast, especially for a glacier pet.
I really dislike your version Sevva, the blue over taking the white does not look glacier. If we were to release a version like that, it would not suit all the other Glaciers aye? You proved no one wrong.
Sevva, you say if you became a Staff artist you would try your best to make everything what the users want.
I am sorry but this is pretty much impossible. There will be at least a few users that will not like something about a pet. Always.

Sort of off subject, I remember when I revamped the Reborn Keeto and everyone complained because they liked how different the old one was to a normal Keeto? This Pherret is somewhat different to the common ie. the mask and inverted colours, and here you are wanting it to be just like the common?
So when it comes to one thing you like it when it's different to the common because it's a redraw, then all of a sudden you want redraws to be just like the common?
Make up your mind.
I personally find this really gorgeous, I think Illusion did an awesome job, considering I think this is her first pet she has drawn for the site. Being a Pet artist is difficult and she has done really well at taking all of this critique as well as some harsh comments.
Don't turn around and say that all of this is critique, because some of it really isn't. I find some of these comments just plain rude, and not helpful in anyway.
As mentioned, you do not have to get this pet, if I had more pet spaces, I would probably get it, but you don't have to.

I totally agree with Rah. And plus, it is beautiful as it is. It isn't going to change anyways so why are people arguing?
Lemon_curry, just want to mention that the Ghostly is mostly blue, with white just appearing on the head.

Sevva - It's a very, very nice edit of the original picture.. but.. I think ALL of the Glacier pets have the White-top Blue/aqua-bottom. : It's the pattern for Glacier pets, I don't think they do the pattern by species.

Seerow, yeah, I could have done much more, but it's basically just a flat out, doodled version of how I think it should have looked. Yes, I could have shaded it more.
And personally, I love my version, the pose of the original and all that is great, but I love my colors, having the mask the aqua and the body ..augh. It makes me want one. XDDD

You didn't prove me wrong. I strongly dislike it with a blue body; it's too dominating for glacier. There is one pet that pulled it off. That is my opinion, and you have yours, it doesn't make anyone "wrong".
And it isn't what the masses want. It's about 50/50 right now. If I were to change it, I would have the same amount of people mad at me. So I'm content with leaving it the same - which it will be.
Sevva, that is gorgeous! I personally would have liked to kept the whole tail that cyan color, but it looks nice either way.
I love the sort of swirly designs around the mask, very nice touch.
Oh, and I have to add in, I am also fond of the marking on the back leg, and the position the body is in. Its face is very cute!

And, guys, it's one color and species combination. No one is forcing anyone to own a Glacier Pherret. It is not even a redraw; it's a new pet which one can own or not own. I personally think it is very, very pretty.

And even still, they eyes can be brightened up so that they differentiate more from the mask, but even excluding the eyes, it took me ten minutes to re-color this, and make it look like it should. I don't see why there is so much grief, complaining, and thoughts towards this. The artist says it's impossible to make it look good with the correct coloration, I proved them wrong.

Personally I adore the pet. It is just beautiful and I was astounded to hear how picky everyone is. Really now, I love it and I doubt that they could do better (not to insult at all). Be appreciative, our artists work really hard on the things that they draw!
But whereas the Pherret hasn't kept the same colour mask in every colour, the keeto has kept those very dark parts in every keeto colour (except for chibi). So with the keeto, it's species specific trait dominated the palette guidelines.
The artists were happy with this version of the glacier pherret.
Not to mention that the blue mask would just make it so the eyes got lost. The white needs to be there for the contrast.
I love it. =) In all honesty, I don't think it would look as spectacular with the colours inverted. But afterall, this is why we use potions and such on our pets. To CHANGE them.
Err I never said anything about Pherrets all being clones of one another, I just said that this Pherret doesn't match the color pattern of all the other Pherrets, which is what if I'm not mistaken, artists generally strive for.
Its fine if some artists want to take artistic license with pets (as happened with the Keeto) but staff can't then turn around and blame a color choice on a rigid color pallet that all the pets have to abide by.

Rah- Cool yer boots. Xiria was just posting an idea, not a command. Somtimes people just get upset with some of the newer things on Subeta, mostly because they're so used to the older things. Don't take it as such an attack.
Besides that, I think this is a very nice look for the Pherret. =) (Although I'm not a fan of the pet myself. xP )
