What isn't being grasped is that the first day of thing.. is called something different depending on which county or district you live in in Pennsylvania.

phew yeah the trivia is definatly strangly phrased... I'm not from the US and checked the net wide and far and the only thing I could find would be 3 words if I want to be precise, not 2... well - I'll see tomorrow I assume

"We're looking for /what/ it is the first day /of/ " - really? so i guess my answer was wrong. but are you sure? because the way I see the trivia, it's ambiguous, and perhaps slightly more likely the other way round...

"In the US, in the state of Pennsylvania, what somewhat unusual day is given off school every year as a holiday today" - i think "the first day of..." is just a hint to be aware that it's also considered the first day of something, and called something else.

argh in any case.

We're looking for /what/ it is the first day /of/ :3 But problem for me is, I don't know /how/ specific, 'be specific' is.

Crack the safe wasn't the answer because the safe doesn't change each day, the combination changes. If you click on the game you'll see that it says 'The combination on the safe changes every day, and each day you have a chance to figure it out!' The format also said the answer was only one word.

are we lookinig for the name of the day or two words that follow "the first day of..." ? this trivia is badly phrased O_o

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Andreea

did you read the trivia carefully?
The format said one word and one word only so the answer was obviously combination. That's what changes each day while you answered the name of the game.

wow. this is getting really old. I miss the advent one because teh entry was calendAr (even though on the site it's spelled calendEr) and now i miss teh safe one because it was combination instead of safe. i hate being right but not right, it really sucks. I wish there was some way around it. like, ya know, have a human check teh answers or something. i know that would take way too long, but still, just makes me mad, ya know?

Hmmmm! I have found several names for the same thing by googling it. How specific does it need to be? I know that the school children call it something different than what is on most websites.
Its not good having a question that has several answers depending on where you look/live and suchlike.

Actually it's not really biased for Americans. It's confusing for Pennsylvanians! I have lived in Pa for 32 years in a few counties here and each school district calls it something different. =( I just went through my son's school notices and checked out the website of the districts I grew up in and they are all different.

If this one is biased for Americans, then the Guy Fawkes Day trivia was biased for the English. :/

Biased? That's like saying.... a question about President Bush is biased, because he's American. The question has to be based in SOME group, SOMEWHERE. Happens to be PA here. They also have this in Michigan, on a different day. Am I saying it's biased because I'm from Michigan, and therefore the dates are messed up? Google is your friend. If the question is about something George W. Bush said at a conference last week, you Google it. If it's about the original killer in the first Friday The 13th movie, Google it. If it's about some little-known almost extinct species of tiny owlets, you Google it. If it's about some obscure not-quite-holiday tradition in rural Pennsylvania, you Google it.

Ahahah this one was easy for me. |D -lives in Pennsylvania-

But for those of you saying it's biased for people who live in the U.S, most people who don't live in that particular state wouldn't know the answer to this without looking it up. It isn't really any different than any other Trivia they might ask about a "holiday".

I totally don't agree that this is biased. EVERYONE has access to a search engine, and as someone pointed out earlier, they live in Pennsylvania and didn't know the answer without looking. So basically, everyone has an equal chance!
