A new trivia question has been added!

NOTE: Due to the cheating on the Trivia that has been occurring, the sP prize has been significantly cut. Also, very few truly rare items will now be being given. (Not that Arbor's delicious mud pie is not a thing of beauty and a joy forever). The pocket of cheaters know who they are and where they posted, and that it is absolutely not permitted. If anyone would like to report any of them, please feel free. I was going to discontinue the Trivia entirely, however I chose the less drastic route of lesser prizes unless and until this spate of cheating comes to a halt. It will be being monitored.

I agree that it should be said not to give out hints on the trivia page, although i would have thought that would be obvious.. but yeah, it's a good idea.

i think i messed up once and mentioned harry potter about one quiz,saying i had never read it before. because everyone had started talking about harry potter and so i joined the conversation. not really thinking about the whole quiz aspect of it and lucky for me the answer ended up NOT having to do with it at all. i had only thought of it later,that i probably shouldnt have said that and i felt bad,even though it seemed everyone was HPing ;

@ Armageddite - I do believe in the warning system. However, I feel that if the staff says they'll freeze users for something, then they should. Mind you, it's stated that giving out the answer is what's wrong, not giving hints. In my opinion, it should be changed to include both very clearly. I did read that you got a warning for giving out a hint, and I can see why you feel so strongly about the warning system. I would not say that you should have been frozen, as it only says those that give out the answer directly will be frozen. Perhaps I misread and nobody explicitly gave out the answer?

Hmmm. I think I got this one. Moving air. It makes sense. As for the cheaters, I know they were just trying to be helpful, but it is against the rules to give out answers. Just like you can't say what's inside the BB. Grrr. I wish I knew what was in there. I lost the password, and my chance to get inside, when my laptop died. And, it cut off my post. Evil commenting thingies.

Thanks for not ending the trivia. I really look forward to trying to figure them out. I seem to always give up when it comes to math tho and it isn't fair if people cheat when sometimes I spend hours looking for the answer!

I'm confused. If the staff knows there was cheating occurring, then why not just freeze the proven cheaters (since it does say on the trivia that those caught cheating will be frozen) and continue the trivia like usual without punishing the masses? It would serve as a wake-up call to those that were somehow not caught, while not ruining the prizes for those that play fairly.

Though I'm glad that you didn't do away with the trivia completely (that would be horrible to those trying to get into the Blue Building), I agree with Tabbi. This is way too much like grade school, where the majority are treated with unfairness due to what a minority has done.

And there's my opinion. Please note that it's not meant to sound hostile or in any way offensive. I just wanted to state my beliefs on the matter.

Hm. Actually, disabling comments might not be such a bad idea since most of the 'hints' are given out here. Then again, there's always the forums... Personally, I don't really see any need for comments on the trivia seeing as how we can't say much about the current question. If others have questions on the last trivia, there are usually boards about it up.

BlueGreenGrey while I believe what you posted is correct, and I fully agree with the letter and spirit of it, what is said on the trivia page is "You are not allowed to give out the answers for the trivia. If you are caught, you will be frozen!" Some people could read that and think hints, "pointing in the right direction" and so forth are permissible, so long as the ANSWER isn't given. I think there really ought to be a FAQ or something laying out the specific rules for the trivia and for posting in the comments for that matter.

What you wrote is pretty much common sense to me, but common sense isn't always as common as we'd like.

The Angelic sneaker is somewhere on the re use prizes list, if and when this nonsense ceases. I agree on the point about cheating on a virtual site for pixels and non existent money; I don't get it either.

Oh my, I can't believe some people were actually cheating on the trivias! That's just sad! ...ah well, I don't care if the trivia reward is less than before. It's still fun trying to work them out and all. And this new one looks pretty fun! (Not sure if I'll actually be feeling that way later on...if my search comes up with nothing. )

And the idea of a Trivia is for the question to be related to at least somewhat obscure knowledge, that's the point of a trivia question; it's not a handout.

I'm just hoping that they reconsider and stop. That's why I thought my just not doing Trivias at all would be totally unfair, as they're needed for Blue Building access. The next few after this one might be a tad difficult; there are some pretty good ones in there a the moment.

Well what do except given how vague and misleading the recent questions have been. Stop the if, but and maybes and linking them to things that almost no one knows about and then people wouldn't want to cheat.

Now rather than fixing the issue you just make it cheap, trashy and not worth the bother.

It's about time something was done about the cheaters!

Also, people, PLEASE do not give HINTS in your posts, whether News Comments or Forums, or even other sites across the vast WWW... ALL you are allowed to say is whether you found it difficult or hard, that you did/did not find it yet, etc. You cannot tell people where to look or what to do to find the answer or point them in the right direction. I keep seeing people tell where they looked, what they've been trying, even people on the last one saying, "Oh no - I messed up and put in the actual item name, now I won't get the prize!"

That's. Considered. Cheating. Watch what you say - NO HINTS ALLOWED! Everyone must find their own answers! When you help others get the answer, you've just made the prize less valuable and rare. YOUR reward for figuring out the Trivia is suddenly worth WAY less! Stop doing it to yourself and everyone else!

Thank you SO much, DebiLee, for not ending Trivias entirely, though it would have been justified. I love me some Trivias and I'm glad they're still a part of Subeta!

Yes, thank you for not canceling the trivia; I love a good challenge and then the nice payoff for all the hard work one takes in figuring it out. Although if we had prizeless trivia; I would still enjoy trying to figure it out.
