The trivia wasn't based off conversations or comments; it was a legitimately good Trivia question. I was merely stating that it could have been found entirely on the site.

I asked Debi just in case, and what Blue said fits perfectly. You'll know when you know.

Seto - when you find it, you'll know, and there won't be any question of format or number of letters or anything like that

I don't think I understand.. Is the answer one letter or two? or three? xS It says 'what is missing from this set', are we talking plural or singular?

Every single Trivia, someone is bound to be peeved. I've never once seen a Trivia that people didn't complain about, during and after. headshake

As for the new one, I beat my head on my desk about 50 times, and it didn't help. So I just shrugged it off, because I didn't actually need the prize anyway (it's not a minion LOL!). So I went about my merry way, doing the things I do on Subeta... when it just now hit me like an avalanche of bricks off the back of a truck. Now I feel kind of silly for making a dent in my forehead.

The answer, when you find it, won't be making you second-guess if maybe you messed up - it will be obviously right, and you'll wonder why you missed it. That's not to say that it's EASY. Oh no, these Trivias lately have been deceptively easy-looking, yet are twisted and tricky and OH so good for making you lose your mind. Good luck everyone!

Awww bummer. The Katana -- didnt even notice it. Good trivia. I was even going to buy one, guess I should have! Unfortunately for me, I can't look at the red balloon without 99 red balloons starting in my head so that's all that came to mind. Oh well, on to the next.

Natsu, it's because the Maple katana costs 8,675,309 sP and the song in question is titled 867-5309 Jenny by Tommy Tutone.

I guess that I'm in the minority that even tho I missed the last question by several parsecs, I'm still amused at how clever it actually was.

I think if folks don't know that Jenny song the answer going to be like wtf to them cause I was huh!? When I first saw it but the jenny song makes it not so huh anymore xD if that makes sense. LOL

Yah hun! There is one item that hints to the song 99 I mean I don't care I didn't get the prize but getting the trive right for the record would have been nice

Anyway I got this next one in the bag! 1% sure I got it right! =D Woot!

General knowlege for some trivias works, but trivias like the last (and this one, really) require some looking around--not just know-all.

Ok ...first off, not very upset, just sharing some other answers that could have been ... and I think of purchase, as I think most do ..as anything you can buy, it doesnt say RS, it says purchase ..and .. if my kids dont hear it in school, or from friends etc ..I think of it as "used to be" .. as in 2 front teeth song, 1,2 ...etc. I BET ..they know Jenny though. Why is it some ppl are read as sharing and other are read as upset? Im simply sharing why some said there were many options.

I still ask...how would you make the connection if you didn't know the song lyrics off the top of your head, and weren't there when the comments were posted? It's not my fault it didn't even cross my mind to go look at one specific news posts comments.... Can we please not base trivias off of conversations in the comments in the future? Triva should be general knowledge, not "If you weren't there when it was said, too bad, you should have thought to read back.". Too bad I can't see being able to trade the new trivia's prize for the Shard Yce...

Grr I guessed the right song (and am still tortured with it in my head) but the wrong item. I had guessed the Rock CD, which sells for 1,867 in the music shop. The last 3 digits are enough for that ditty to come to mind... Maybe I should sMail DebieLee 'singing' the song to her each time it bounces around in my head. LOL

boy it seems like there are complainers no matter what ya'll do. You are not going to be able answer ALL the trivia questions, folks. That's life. You win and you lose. life is not fair. I've felt screwed on a couple of answers but, hey, that's the game.

Ah, the joy of One-Hit-Wonders. I actually thought of Tommy Tutone when I bought my katana, but simply never connected that with the "numerical ditty" asked for. (I will however, name my swords Jenny and Tutu. cackle )

Anyway, I'm a million poorer but got the Shard Yce out of trades, so it's all good. Off to look at the new one.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Ariel

There is no mention to 99 luftballoons in any of the items, short of there actually being a red balloon (which is a kind far stretch).

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Ariel
User Avatar

I looked through thousands of items on subetdb myself, found many numerical ditties, but new that none of them were the answer because none were popular songs, nor had anything to do with buying them. Yes, I wasted a ton of time on it myself, I didn't get it right away! I'm not just backing this up because I got it right, I'm backing it up because I, too, came across these same items and knew none of them were the answer.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Skychase

Not even 99 was popular? I swear I saw it on VH1 as being a hit at one point ^^;

And the first song that popped into my head was 867-5309 Jenny, but I couldn't find anything that fit. So I missed this one.

Exactly Ariel! that's the part of the trivia some of you seem to be disregarding... when purchasing... which makes it the katana... no questions asked.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by DebiLee

No, that's why it specifically says while purchasing it. (Also, you can't even "purchase" three of those).

Seriously guys, it's just a virtual site, just because you got it wrong doesn't mean you need to get very upset about it... move on, put all this effort into finding the new answer instead of dwelling on the old.

Your answer mysterious maple katana for the trivia was correct! Youve been given an Shard Yce and 222sP I too had the song playing in my head since I noticed the price of the mysterious maple katana. A few choices ran through my head but I figured this had to be the answer. Pretty sure I have the new one right too.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Ariel

Also, none of those had anything to do with purchasing said item. If there was some item that said you'd break into song after buying a red balloon, yet the answer was still this, yes, there would have really been two possible answers.

Penny, while many numerical songs were possible, none of them were "once popular" in any way. They're all nursery rhyme type things.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by PaperDoll

There were MANY items that could have been right, I hate those ...try, Ok, the correct answer for one, or, Lamb Hand Puppet (song that never ends, as in infinite), or, A Telenine Christmas (all I want for Christmas) for another, or, Christmas Tree Alarm Clock (12 days of Christmas), or Zodiak Fantasy Buckled Boots (1, 2 buckle my shoe) ... all numerical, bleh, nothing like pulling one out of the hat, which is how some had to choose ... on to the next one.

It is not unheard of to search past news posts to find trivia amswers. the release of the Katana can be found 1 week ago including still visible in comments where I mention the song, and Debi confirms that they were related.

It was a great question, even though I wish it had narrowed down the numerical ditty a bit There are way too many number songs
