Experiment Pet Poll Results

Well, future customers and most excellent funders of the One True Zapper. I have quite some news for you. Thanks to your generosity, I find myself practically swimming in money overwhelmed with donations. Owing to the results of my poll, I believe I may have more than enough to fulfil the desires of certain experiment lovers. The results of the poll were as follows:

1. Experiment with 870,500,000
2. Experiment with 857,100,000
3. Experiment with 302,100,000
4. Experiment with 248,350,000
5. Experiment with 208,100,000

As you can see, there were two contenders that zapped into the lead and - to let you in on a little behind the scenes fun - remained very much neck and neck throughout the donation period. It was very tense.

The donations were so high, in fact, that I believe I may be able to turn BOTH of these top contenders into full pets. I know, I said I would only do one! But I’m Euclid, the all powerful scientist - do you really want me to hold back on my constant and changing whims? Plus, the blob will be easy. Nobody is going to be worried about if its legs look anatomically correct or if it has furboobs.

So look forward to your future pets! Now I just need to come up with a name for them. I’m currently leaning towards ‘peabomination' and ‘blobface' but who knows what will happen while I’m tweaking my zapper. That’s not a euphemism. Get your mind out of the gutter. Maybe if you shout some suggestions at me some of them will influence my decisions. I can’t do all the work, people.

Excited for the peacock in special colors like Nightmare or Spectrum. I've hoped for this one to win, if the pangolin sloth or squid don't make it.

Can't say anything abut the decision to do the blob as well now...

What I like about horse-peacock (I've always thought about it as a "deer-peacock") is that it cannot be summed up with one word. Recent pets are mostly gorgeous and beautifully detailed, but they can be described with single species - almost-elephant, almost-owl, almost-frog, almost-mantis and so on. Experiment is a more exotic and creative mix. I cannot wait for colorfills, but the special colours could be really stunning (I mean - reborn? spectrum? nightmare?).

My favourite would have been the armadillo/sloth thingy with the peacock follow up. Esp. the Chibi verions ;-) I am surprised, that the blob has so many fans.

Really don't care for the blob, but the peacock might be interesting. I would have liked the squid too, but not enough to put a lot of sP into this. Also agreed that the sandcat could be an inspiration for a color rather than a species. I feel like that would be a unique addition to the special colors we already have.

name: Since we still need "Y" names...

Yarrow, yarrel, yarrowel, etc. -- SOMETHING related to the yarrow flower! ("-el" was just tossed on at the end as a diminutive, but I'm not attached at all to that part of the suggestion.)

Yarrow's a plant with a ton of different medicinal properties & uses & some neat folklore.

Its Spanish name even means "little feather," because of its leaves. A few other colloquial names include "thousand-leaf" & "thousand-seal," which makes me think of all the eyeballs & feathers. Further: there's some folklore where holding the leaves up to the eyes would give one second sight.

My less serious reason for suggesting it: the centres of the flowers that peek through the petals remind me of the yellow horns/spines in the experiment's design peeking out of its hind feathers.

Flowerbutts. Haha.

P.S. I very much considered just posting the acronym "WYSIWYG" as my suggested name, instead. P.P.S. Ya'll probably already have everything planned out, so I'm wondering: is it too late to be throwing out small little lore ideas or design things for the winning experiments (or even the non-winning)? If not, is it more appropriate to go toddling off to a suggestion thread or?

Hmm, I wanted to have a blob pet with a backstory. A by-product of the zappings, it got scooped up and thown into a barrel and dumped in a wasteland. It was a sentient being that started roaming the land, trying to play with the locals, but people were disgusted of it, found the origin of the spill and Euclid had to clean up his mess. And by cleaning up, I mean lock it in a room in an industrial vat, throwing more goop in it. If he destroyed a client's pet, Euclid would take a shovelful from the vat and present it as the pet, to cover-up the accident. Blob was sad in it's prison, resentful of it's existance, it escaped, trying to get contact with subetans. But a hill sized huge blob made everyone panic instead. Blobwarplot.gif Subetans battled off the blob, and chunks of goop exploded all over Subeta. (Who's gonna clean up that mess now?!) But the small pieces were alive. The mini blobs started responding to the environmens around them, changing their appearance accordingly. Subetans found the blobs to be quite adorable and started taking them in as pets.

But I also like the idea, that it was sludge, that Euclid poured down the drain and it started to ooze out from the sewers and pipes and people were just like, ok... :D (If you are brave enough, search for 'Tubifex Worm' on youtube)

I didn't expect it to come out on top. There seemed to be so much love for the blob, I felt certain that was going to take first place! Awesome to see both will become full pets. :D

No name ideas, but when it comes to the Nightmare peacock deer, you gotta give it teeth like a water deer, okay? ;)

I know that you and many people who'd love another experiment to win would feel disappointed, and I personally don't think this sP-sink poll is the best way to get opinions. However, I don't think it's fair to say people who voted for the blob as having 'trash taste' either. Criticisms should be directed to the system and how this poll is held. They shouldn't be held against other users who only play by the rule set by the system.

To be honest, I'm happier than ever that my favorite experiment wasn't included in this poll. Even though my first pick for the poll wasn't chosen, I'm not salty about which of the pets won, just that they both won by about 500,000,000 more sP. That's more that double their competitors. Triple for the sandcat. I'm just worried that the staff is going to see this as a success because of how much sP they earned and do it again without addressing the glaring problems with this approach.

Aww, not gonna lie, I was hoping for the squid! However, two experiments turning into full pets is a pretty awesome present and I'm excited to see how they'll turn out! Especially curious to see how the artists will get creative with the blob.

Darn that peacock. We have so many equine already and no squids. But eh cant complain. At least it means I have no interest in making a new pet. I just hope someday my raf will get more poses for his pretty squid body that dont rely on overlay <3

Actually, "sentient goop leaking out of Euclid's pipes" was always my head canon for the gelatins. (Basically the gel would build up over time, and then he'd flush the pipes into a nearby river every few months and kick off a gelatin war.) It would be cool if the 5162s were somehow related to the gelatins, just with slightly different properties and demeanor. Kind of like Mogwai and Gremlins. How's that for lore? :P

It could be a type of slime mold (here's a video). They're living off in the deep, dark crevices of the Underground, just eating away at all of the dead things, cleaning the place up, keeping it nice. Nasty, yet necessary creatures. The Unliving could be all "What? You guys didn't know these exist? We hate them, you should have voted for the squid instead." and so forth and so on. hahaha.

ooh i forgot there was a missing piece in Y (i only caught the U earlier)! i wonder if they would reuse an old name from the Zentu poll that didnt win - Yunmei which had multiple meanings (yun - cloud, mei - beautiful, unmei - fate) - as the peacock? i mean Peahera and Peaquine are both beautiful, but maybe im just hungry to see more unique (or maybe just less English-y names, nothing wrong with them i mean, but theres quite a number, especially after Qrykee!). also theres a bundle of P pet names so i'd love to see a variety of starting letters too. im grateful you brought it up - thank you!

Not surprised that the peacock won so I am fine but did not expect the blob to second. The one would have been nice to, but I would prefere to see the colors as a pet color, not as a own pet cause it looks to much like the Feli or the Tigrean. But using its "color" as Saheric or Sand would be super cool.

Yeah, according to Ovid, Argos Panoptês' eyes were put on the tail feathers of Hera's favourite bird, the peacock, as thanks for watching over one of Zeus' man love interests when she was turned into a cow.
