Computer Geek Quests: Shut down!

Melman has saved up enough from years of repairing computers to retire, and has shut down his quests! As a tribute other quest givers have a chance to give special themed items until February 7th!

:/// Kind of a bummer. It sucks when we don't get warnings for things like this. I'd put his quests off for last, because manually searching for his items were a pain, but he usually paid fairly well.

I'll fully admit I'm rather annoyed by not getting a warning of the impending closure. That was one of the questing achievements I was working towards.

Thanks.

Couldn't we have just upped his payout? That is the reason people don't do quests that aren't popular...because heir payout sucks.

What flux was originally pissed about and from what I'm seeing in the comments a lot of the other veterans that are complaining, including myself, is that this was all done without giving a warning. I was literally in the middle of his quests when it went down. I thought it was getting revamped and then saw this announcement. Subeta warns us when items retire, when shops close, when discounts are ending, etc but they can't warn us for something like a quest shutting down forever? Yeah achievements retire all the time, oh well. The fact that the staff couldn't even take a few days time to warn us about a change that obviously is affecting some of the user base is uncalled for. I can't say for sure for the others, but all I'm asking for is some consideration.

Yes his quest has been around for year, but there are also close to if not more than 2,000 other achievements on the site people are working for. Just because we haven&;t gotten all of his achievements yet doesn&;t mean we don&;t care to do his quests and get the achievement, it&;s because we&;re hustling to try and get as many different achievements as possible before the retire. Some achievements literally take months to get even if a user works every single day to get them so I find the answer of "well you guys don&;t care about his achievements if you waited this long" unacceptable and invalid.

Quote
This, basically. If achievements are for &;doing things you would normally do anyway&; then they serve no purpose. Also I am PRETTY sure that nobody is just deleting Ethers for the fun of it. There is plenty of stupid and boring crap we do on this site solely for achievements, so if that wasn&;t your design when you implemented achievements, then you implemented them wrong,

Quote
What I also don&;t understand is, you guys give us warnings when items retire, when special shops close, etc but you can&;t give a warning for quests shutting down?

These. Agreed 1000%. I think Subeta needs to learn the difference between achievements (things that are ACHIEVEable and on-going) and trophies (special event, one-time deals). On that note, it is kinda silly to get an achievement and a trophy for doing the same thing; that's further proof Subeta doesn't know the difference. And I don't think users should just be expected to suck up any change thrown at us. We have a right to opinions and emotions.

That's too bad for the users who do his quests. I never really got to enjoy his quests because I didn't find the pay out to be all that great. Happy he can retire though!!

I kinda wish there was a warning but I didn't do them over the years because I kept getting nothing from him so I guess that is my fault :p no achievement for me there xD

Now look, I'm not (too) bothered about missing out on the achievement, but why do people keep claiming that changes like this keep things interesting?

Like, removing site features so now are are achievements you'll never get? Yeah I'm on the edge of my fucking seat here.

funny, I don't see many new users complaining about this. I see veteran players that literally have had years to get the achievements throwing fits and thats it.

^Just got that from a Cinthia quest- I assume it's one of his tribute items? ^-^ Cute! I'm curious to see what the other items are.

I didn't even nearly complete his achievements but I'm not much of an achievement collector anyway. So I'm not really sad to see him go; he was nice as a weekend quest but too tedious for me to do regularly personally.

I am sad to see him go, an entire quest, i am really sad because the number of quests have been trimmed, and now you cut a whole quest. Not to mention that they give less and less sp, or good items, like the wizard, he used to give us around 20 tokens, now is less, and no item or sp. It is harder for us to make sp and just enjoy subeta life. :( i am really sad. I think the quest should go up at 30 again, 15 is far too less.

I really don't think its a big deal. If they don't make changes the site just gets boring! This will get everyone on their toes to start working on achievements they've been ignoring. If less than 5% of active users were doing his quests to begin with, then why are there so many angry people? If they revamped them people would have done quests for the first three days, and then forgot about them forever (again). I support the changes...keeping me on my toes. I don't like being bored. :)

JESSYTA - I'm not one of the ones talking about achievements, just his quests in general. They paid well. They were easy to do. It's a shame that the site had to get rid of something so good...

I couldn't agree more. I was so unhappy that quests were made where you could only do 10 or 15 a day per quest. I think it should've been at LEAST 20 and 30 for each quest no matter what. 15 is just so low...I may not have time to quest always, but I was super shocked at that super low change. Now Geek's gone for good and it's just getting worse.

Changes may be happening, but they don't seem to be positive, good changes at all

"I think the fact that no one here completed his quests enough for the achievements is an easy way to point out that no one did them." :) I am someone.

I have done the Computer Quests for a long time. I had also recommended them to other users as a good source of SP. I am sorry for all the users that will not get the achievement, but things do change, and I look forward to something new to do on Subeta.

I was starting to enjoy his quests (recently started doing them again to work on the achievements). They weren't half bad, and I was able to make some nice sP off of them. Pretty pissed that they're being taken away, without warning and without my achievement tiers completed.

And what's this B.S. about achievements being for things you would do anyway? HAHAHAHA.

If a feature isn&;t used, we are going to remove it, regardless of how many people really super wish they&;d been able to get an achievement that has been there for years .

This made me LOL. In retrospect, I now really super-wish I did them too. But there's hundreds and hundreds of other achievements. And if they were all available forever it wouldn't be much of an achievement to have a lot of them. They come and they go and sometimes they retire. It's called a "challenge."

I don't really get why he was removed. The bulk of what people seemed to be asking for was to have him to ask for comp stuff because the other quests don't really ask for them. Not ax him completely :( He had a good pay out sucks to see him go.
